  1. Why do so many of you read Rockwell's reviews and then declare that he is always 'crap' or some other derogatory term? You keep rereading them and keep declaring them irrelevant. OK, I get the point, but just remember that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I don't read his reviews having done so once or twice. There are a few excellent and generally objective review sites out there. Why not stick with them? It's time to bring this thread to a merciful end.
  2. Fuji doesn't make manual lenses for the X mount Fuji's and they never will. With the vast selection of new and used Leica M mount lenses made by too many companies to enumerate, why should Fuji make a manual lens? They already make an M mount adapter which tells you something. Namely, that they are not going to re-invent the wheel. Buy the M adapter and you will have a choice of new or used Leica, Canon, Zeiss, Voightlander and too many others to mention for very reasonable prices and of a quality that even Fuji cannot match. I have two M mount Leicas cameras and several excellent manual lenses that I can and do use on my Fuji XPro-1 on occasion. Why you feel the need to switch to manual lenses is beyond me, but if you really feel the need, a simple switch on your camera and your Fuji lens is manual. Otherwise, buy the M adapter and knock yourself out.
  3. I have the very small Olympus OM-D as well as my Fuji XPro-1. To make the OM-D comfortable to shoot, I bought the very expensive hand grip/battery case combination. That added substantially to the bulk and weight. Ready to shoot, the Fuji XPro-1 comes out lighter, smaller and more comfortable than the OM-D with grips. On the other hand, the Fuji XPro-1 is a little larger than my Leica M4-P (film) and about the same size as my Leica M9-P RF cameras. I have handled my wife's Sony A6000 which is extremely small and I do not find it comfortable although its IQ is nearly the best on the market at this time. I conclude that the Leica's and the Fuji XPro-1 are made for photographers who need something that is comfortable to use for a full days shooting without developing hand cramps. Naturally, if you have small hands, the very compact sized cameras that are so popular now may not be a problem for you. I am looking forward to what is produced as the Fuji XPro-2 and hope that the overall size and ergonomics remain the same except perhaps reversing the hybrid finder switch since it is wrong way round IMO. And a new XTrans sensor with higher IQ like the Sony A6000 would also be welcome.
  4. He is comparing it to the X100 and not the 100T, so you are talking about apples and oranges. I had an X100 and have an XPro-1. There is no comparison as the XPro-1 is much faster. I find that it is on a par with most mirrorless cameras of the same period as when the XPro-1 was new. It's true that with some lenses the focus is slower but many cameras display the same inconsistency from lens to lens. I replaced the X100 with a fine used Leica X2 which focuses faster than most cameras on the market now. But for versatility, IQ, handling, ergonomics and steath for street shooting, the XPro-1 can't be beat. I am looking forward to the promised XPro-2 before I consider ever replacing my beloved XPro-1.
  5. Try to re-install the upgrade. I had a similar experience with an earlier upgrade. Turn on your camera with the Disp/Back button depressed to bring up the firmware version and see if you get a display.
  6. I'll settle for improved resolution, highlights and shadows in the EVF, more accurate parallax correction in the OVF, faster focus with all lenses and higher resolution ( more pixels or whatever it takes ) in the sensor so long as it doesn't increase electronic noise.. The camera as it stands is otherwise an ideal compromise between a RF camera and an EVF camera in a size that accomodates comfortable handling without the cramped feeling of the smaller competition. I just hope it doesn't succumb to the one size fits all mentality that has produced most of the competing cameras.
