I think the joystick is kinda worthless
petergabriel replied to Jwctp's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
Funny, I have a thread where I question the AF on the xpro2. Made a lot of test shots of my hand in a camera store with my own xpro1 a x100t, a x70 and a xpro2 and the xpro2 was the only one that left my hand blurry and the background in focus even though the green AF square confirmed it had focused on my hand. Seems like I see a lot of people confirming this tendency now in different threads. -

Perhaps make the speed adjustable. -
Survey: Fuji X-T2 or Fuji X-Pro2?
petergabriel replied to FX Admin's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
Looking at the used market where I live I am surprised to see how many x-pro 2's are up for sale each week. I know it must be because people switch to x-t2, but given the amount of time they are for sale and selling for 2/3 the store price, seems like people have to much money and the x-pro 2 drops in value way to fast. So in that regard the x-t2 probably holds its value for much longer. -
X-pro 2 - I don't get it!
petergabriel replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Wouldn't you say 1200 euro is a fine price for a used x-pro 2 in mint condition? It's like 2/3 the store price. -
X-pro 2 - I don't get it!
petergabriel replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Hi Adam, But I love my x-pro 1 and would like the better high iso handling, faster AF and improved EVF. Just don't see why they (Fujifilm) has skipped some obvious choices for the x-pro 2 compared to the x-t2. Being that I like the rangefinder form factor doesn't mean e.g. I dislike articulating screens. In Denmark where I live there are easily 2-3 x-pro 2 bodies for sale used on the biggest used market site. That worries me (all because of x-t2?), but given I can buy a 4 month old x-pro 2 in mint condition for approx 1200 euro (1280 us dollars) I might give it a go. Market price in Denmark is 1850 euro, and that includes cash back rebate, so that is quite a bargain. -
X-pro 2 eye cup
petergabriel replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Is it possible to change the eye cup like on the x-t2? -
Simple question; is the opening for the ovf/evf bigger than on x-pro 1? On x-pro 1 I sometimes find I have to look around in the viewfinder to get the whole picture because the rubber cut out is a bit to small. I do not wear glasses.

1. Allegedly the reason x-pro 2 has no 4K video is because of heat, yet its body is bigger than the x-t2 that does have 4K which in my world means that there is less room for heat dispersion. The hybrid viewfinder can't take up that much space, so the heat explanation seems lame. 2. X-pro 2 has no articulating screen as it would add weight and bulk, yet the x-t2 has it and it is still a smaller, lighter camera. 3. X-pro 2 does not charge via usb. X-t2 does. Why the difference? I love Fujifilm, but these questions really bug me, as I really prefer the x-pro form factor, but feel I am missing out on some the cool stuff from the x-t2.

... that Fujifilm had kept the resolution at 16mp on the xp2 and xt2. With the new processor, the high iso performance would (i believe) be out of this world and the AF would probably be even faster than now. Right now the increased resolution has given high iso performance on par with x trans 2 (some state worse). I would much rather have kept the already fine resolution and perhaps/most likely have had one of the best high iso camera available to man. This is purely speculation, but valid at that. What are your thoughts?

I am not so much interested in speedier AF, as I think the x-pro 1 does a pretty decent job when the conditions are right, I am more interested in improved low light performance, better back light performance and less hunting (pdaf) which off course all amounts to faster AF, but more importantly, increased accuracy.

That 35mm f1.4 magic in other Fujinon lenses?
petergabriel replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X Lenses
My 35 1.4 has zero to no distortion. The 2.0 on the other hand is horrid and its not very sharp wide open at its closest focusing distance. The 1.4 has none of those issues. -
X-pro 2 sooc waxy skin?
petergabriel replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
I used to have an x100s and x100t and I started noticing the waxy/smoothed skin on my kids when shooting very early on. I really hated it and started to Google the phenomenon without, at that point, knowing to search for 'waxy skin'. I sold both those cameras and got a used x-pro 1 while waiting for the x-t2 to be released and I absolutely love the pictures coming from that camera. No waxy skin, just fine grain, when shooting high iso. I usually don't go beyond iso 3200 unless there is good lighting. So, unless the x-t2/pro 2 shows the same kind of 'organic' high iso IQ I will stick with my x-pro 1. Slow AF and all. -

Is it just me or the lowish light files are too noisy?
petergabriel replied to synthesaur's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
To be honest I don't see that much difference between my trusty old x-pro 1 and the x-trans III sensor. Resolution is very good imho on the x-pro 1. Look at the horizontal lines on the white ruler. I added x-pro 1 instead of the Nikon. -

Wow, the x-t2 shows a lot more resolution there. Look at the white ruler. The horizontal lines are only visible/distinguishable on the x-t2 shot. I wonder what NR setting they used. -
Firmware 2.0 reviews?
petergabriel replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Are there only two pages on the x-pro 2? At the end of the one about IQ there are two previous page links. Not a Next Page link. -
Firmware 2.0 reviews?

This the link you end up at using Next Page from page 29. https://adambonn.com/my-love-affair-with-the-fujifilm-x-pro1/xp2-thirty/ And this is the link that doesn't work when clicking directly on page 30 https://adambonn.com/my-love-affair-with-the-fujifilm-x-pro1/xp1-thirty/ Guess you just wont let go of the x-pro 1... See the difference? :-) -

Yes, e.g. Page Thirty (The Start of the 100% X-Pro2 Content) Looks like its broken after 29. Clicking on 29 and then using the Next Page link takes me to 30, but from 30 the Next Page link doesn't work either. -

Firmware 2.0 reviews?
petergabriel replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Thanks, Adam. The first time I have heard about improved battery life with the firmware upgrade. That sounds great! Are you shooting in High Performance mode? I know I will. I have tested the X-pro 2 in a store where I got it to back focus alot. Meaning that it often ignored the front most element and focused on the most contrasty part of the background instead. Do you know if this has been improved with the 2.0 AF? I mean they changed the eye focus to prioritize the front most eye. Also, is it true that you can now half press the shutter for focus and take pictures without the camera refocusing after every shot as long as you only lift your finger half way between shots? My Nikon D90 did that and I have always missed that feature on the Fujifilm cameras. I only have the "old" lenses (14mm f2.8, 35mm f1.4, 23mm f1.4), so I am wondering how much of an improvement I will get going from the X-Pro 1. I am still "only" using my X-pro 1, but there are so many used X-pro 2's each week here in Denmark, that makes me - I know a lot of people want to go for the X-T2 - a bit anxious as to why so many give up on their X-pro 2 so fast. -
Firmware 2.0 reviews?
petergabriel replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Thanks, but they are simply walk throughs. No one show or tell about before/after experiences. -
I have searched far and wide, but haven't found any reviews of the 2.0 firmware for the x-pro 2. Is the x-pro 2 really that much of a niche camera? I mean statistically there should be a blog or a youtube video somewhere raving about the (on paper) huge improvements. I have found many articles that simple go through the new specs, but none that tell of the perceived differences. Please help :-)
