On my x100t whenever I set pre AF to On the lens goes berserk and starts pre focusing whenever I change the cameras view. And this is without pressing the shutter button. I get what pre AF is all about e.g. during continuous AF when the shutter is pressed, and pictures are taken, but why does it pre focus continuously when the shutter is not even pressed? Seems a bit overkill to me. So, what am I missing here?

I wouldn't count on it, but maybe there is a chance we will see an x100t 2.0 upgrade. Here is my theory. Fuji has mainly shown Kaizen love to the camera models with large eco systems. Meaning the cameras with lenses and accessories a plenty. They (obviously) want to keep their customers and get them to buy more stuff. Nothing wrong with that. Perfectly legit. So what about the x100 models. Well. x100s received a couple of bug fixes, x100t received a couple of bug fixes, x100 recieved what many consider Kaizen love, but to me "all" Fuji did was to make a less than impressive camera operating system work like it, more or less, should have from the get go. Fuji was still a small player on the mirrorless market when the x100 came out. They had to fix what they could via firmware, to make an already loved camera useable. Still, gotta love the improvements they made. So what about the camera models with an eco system worth talking about. The reason the xt1 has received so many firmware upgrades is because it is still a very attractive camera, and because it is cheaper for Fuji to keep up with the competition, by upgrading firmware, on a camera that is still on the market, instead of building and shipping new hardware. Also when Fuji releases a camera like the x-t10 which is considered a younger sibling to the x-t1, and the x-t1 is still on the market, they have to upgrade the x-t1 to make it at least on par with the x-t10. Otherwise customers will be confused as to which model is the high end model of the two. Believe me, if they had released the x-t10 after the rumored x-t2 had arrived, the x-t1 would not have received so much Kaizen love. Then it would have been perfectly legit to leave the x-t1 in the dust (being the already great camera it is), as the x-t2 would now be the older and wiser sibling to the x-t10. No more customer confusion. So that leads me to the x70 which is considered the younger sibling of the x100t. Well. New menues. Faster AF. Improved what ever. Maybe this means that Fuji will actually send out a 2.0 firmware upgrade for the x100t, simply to get it on par with the x70. The rumors has already started, so maybe, if we are lucky (and the x200, or whatever it will be called, does not see the light of day in the mean time), we will see a Kaizen love firmware update to the x100t. I for sure hope so. I love the camera. But improvements are always welcome. I am sure you can find loop holes in my theory on Fujis Kaizen love, but I still believe it to be more or less accurate. x-t1 view finder lag in burst mode?

Okay, so I guess that is where the rangefinder models come in handy with their hybrid viewfinders. -
Buy cheap xt1 or wait for xt2 in June?

Ha ha, people are funny. Reminds me of this one: -

The weird price is not so weird in Danish kroner. I just did a currency conversion to euro :-) -

I use the 4-way controller to set AF points. Thanks to all for their advice. I think I will go for the x-t1 now, and as many of you recommend, maybe switch to the x-t2 somewhere down the line. It is probably going to be very expensive any ways. I believe the used price for a pristine x-t1 of 730 euro is quite cheap. Don't you agree? -

Yes, the 24Mp is not that important, I was just hoping for faster AF with the x-t2 as I find the x100t somewhat lacking in that department, and being the x-t1 using the same processor and sensor, I wonder how much AF improvement the x-t1 with FW 4.0 has over the x100t. -

Hi milandro, I get your point, but using the x100t I am wondering how much faster the x-t1's AF is, if e.g. used with the 35mm WR 2.0 I have kids, and A LOT of out of focus shots with the x100t as the AF can't keep track with my kids. Is the x-t1 AF much better? -

He he, I can't afford a Lamborghini :-) I am quite used to the x-trans II sensor having owned both an x100s and now an x100t, so from what I have read about the x-pro2, the much better AF (and overall speed) and the much better high iso images (no more waxy faces!) is what attracts me mostly about the theoretical new x-t2. The higher resolution would just be a bonus to me. And I really like the ISO dial on the x-t1, so that rules out the other models you mention. -

Hi Magnesi, Yes, I have considered those options, but one of the knobs that attract me most on the x-t1 body is the iso dial. I find that is the one knob I miss most often when shooting with my x100t. Even using the Q menu to change the ISO is way to slow/cumbersome. And neither the x-e2 nor the x-t10 has the ISO dial. -
I am considering buying a used x-t1 for 730 euro, and have therefore read a lot of reviews online. Most come to the same conclusion, but Imaging Resource also states that there is an "Significant viewfinder lag for burst shooting". They did not test the camera with firmware 4.0, so my question is, has this been fixed in version 4.0 or later? Best, Peter

No, it is a rumor at fujirumors.com from a reliable source. And given the cameras age, and the recent discounts, it makes sense that Fuji upgrades the sensor and processor, now that the x-pro2 has revealed the two to exist. I know people think that Fuji have given the x-t1 a lot of Kaizen love (and they have), but it is not just about customer satisfaction, but as much about keeping a camera with outdated specs (low pixel count and slow AF compared with the competition, and mentioned in most reviews) alive. So therefore my question. Would it be a bad idea to buy an x-t1 so close - in theory - to the launch of the x-t2? Or should I just do it, now that I can get the x-t1 so cheap? It is cheap right? -
Hi, I have been given the opportunity to buy a used x-t1 for 730 euro. Rather okay price right? Looks like it is in excellent shape. Or should I wait for the x-t2 (and obviously pay more) with no more waxy high iso jpegs, higher resolution and new x processor? I already own the x100t, and while I like the image quality (which should be exactly the same as x-t1) I find the AF to be rather slow. Best, Peter

i have purchased an x100t and still have my x100s for a few days more before I sell it. So I have had some time to compare the two models. Yes, x100t is a more responsive camera, and overall I like the improvements. However, comparing the EVF and the LCD with the x100s and I am no longer so happy. With the exact same Screen settings the x100t's EVF and LCD is extremely noisy. The picture is alive with chroma noise compared with the x100s which even in low light has a very clean image. No noise at all. Keeping the lens cap on on both cameras while turned on and the x100s EVF and LCD is pitch black, while the x100t is filled with white constantly moving noise on top of the black. I know the refresh rate is higher on the x100t, but Is the noise normal? I have attached two images of the LCD display from both cameras with the cap on, as it's the best way to illustrate my issue. The camera is still under warranty, so I am wondering whether it needs fixing. x100t x100s
