To those upgrading to X-T2 from X-T1, worth it?
Torturro replied to ErikN's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
as a 2 years user of xt1 and half a year of xt2 - financialy - it doesnt make any sence - no big imrovements. Do I like my xt2 more than xt1? yes. -
Over 3 months - I had to pull out batteries several times to restart XT2, also - camera made itself dozens of pictures - while sitting in my bag - or maybe also - while trying to be switched off. Also - it freezed more than 5 times during this period. Also - it wont let me to upgrade to new firmware. Other than that - some of pics have terrible - very visible watercolour effect - which leaves me with only jpg sooc files (rarely)
-
unless - you come across - randomly - a case like mine from my post no 8: in this case No single program - even the one from fuji - was better than sooc jpg
-
to above cropped picture - try to compare the green part - which is pointed with arrow - with some leaves that are in the same plane - bit to right and bit to left - those two are ok - the one im pointing to - is not.
-
-
Obviously not - as you can see it happening beside parts of picture that are rendered differently - and being in focus. It happenes mostly to some green patterns = but not only green). Also - it might be obvious to people doing lots of postprocessing - meaning close attention to details and results.
-
Now - the worsc case I came across: again - jpg sooc and Raw processed with C.RAW + clarity + 3 and sharpness + 5 (so not too high!)
-
And Im not a pixel peeper! - Im just used to decent images when enlarged to 50cm wide , and if cropped before?!?! then what? And I paid premium, shoot with 23mm 14mm and 56mm lenses. Funny - all those KensRockwells not telling you all you need to know...
-
-
Some more examples - some of them I wont be able to show to clients: All RAW C.RAW processed with all settings to 0 /zero/, no sharpening no nothing, converted at 100% to jpg 10.
-
I bought this Watson and its very very good - but quite heavy comparing to original one. Good thing is you see percentage - usefull when you use a grip with 2 batteries, also you can charg fast if you need. Bought some cheap batteries and they are as good as originals.
-
As I said - 1st one is JPG from RAW with clarity added - which makes things worse - because - the pattern - instead of leaves - is already there - as you can see from no 2 - which is JPG sooc with no in camera sharpening (minus max setting). Dont know how to post full raw. All these pics are at 100%. Very disappointing - as the C.RAW is new, the latest, also - as I see it - using different raw processor wouldnt help - because these awfull patterns are there - as you can see on sooc JPG, or hopefully Im wrong. The thing is - I bought this camera for travel - now Im going through thousends of files to process... will I have to do this again? To me - it looks horrible. Ok - skin tones, overall camera handling etc etc - but these examples would be a dealbreaker for me - if I knew.
-
I had freezed camera several times during last 2.5 months travel and I used it everyday a lot. To restare - battery had to be removed. Also other issues - to me clearly related to software: ie camera takes pictures itself - while in my bag!
-
How do you like it? I dont.... 1.jpg is a JPG from RAW with a little bit of clarity filter - CameraRaw Adobe. 2JPG is a sooc jpg with zero in camera sharpening.

Thanks for suggestions - but no. Tried 3 SunDisc cards - apart from that - camera is working weird - suspended somehow - just because I switch it off - after lets say 20 minutes - thats when it writes it's stuff to the card - and in a matter of 2-5 seconds - after writing its turned off. Meaning: its a bug - that suspends camera after long exposure not letting it finish the process.
-
im reffering to what rwforster01 suggested 3 posts earlier -please read first.
-
If one wants to read, some more bugs: https://www.iamthejeff.com/post/34/fuji-x-t2-firmware-problems
-
Also - I forgot: the evf sometimes freezes - and you can not do anything about it - but turn the camera on off.
-
Thanks 2.Off. 3.On/Off via switch. Sometimes just dont work. Have to turn on twice. Will do the firmware update and will see if any better.

Hi bought my xt2 in oct 2016. Have been using it everyday quite a lot for last 2 months. Here is what I observed: 1: Camera makes files itself: black,in series of up to 50 files from time to time. 2: in Bulb mode after 5 minutes exposure camera takes ages ie 25 minutes to process, wont stop processing has to take off bateries to stop processing. 3: Sometimes it wont turn on (batteries ok, with battery grip) anyone having such problems? beside this - great camera - even though definately not worth the price tag diffrence from xt1.

Would be nice if they improved build quality so it wouldn't loose it's rubber, wouldn't let water in through doors, wouldn't say in menu : "it's on=yes, its off" etc..
-
Amazing... and giving hope - at least for some of us. An a side note - my Canon FT 'rubber skin' is like brand new - being smth like 30 y.o. !
