From the discussion around the huge new Nikon Z-mount with 55mm diameter to support f/0.95 lenses, while the old Nikon F-mount with 46,5mm was struggling with lenses faster, than f/1.4 I was wondering, whrere our X-mount's limits would be. As I understand this limitation it's not a hard border - depending on the lens construction you could route the light "around the mount-borders" - but the lightrays will then fall less and less perpendicularly on the sensor, resulting in vignetting and other IQ tradeoffs. That's why Nikon had almost no f/1.2 lenses in the past. Since the X-mount with 44mm diameter and 17.7mm flange distance almost has the dimensions of the Sony E-mount (46.1mm and 18mm flange dist.) I would expect, with just an APS-C sensor it would support pretty high apertures... but I can't do the maths behind that assumption myself.

I bought the 18-135 used at a good price two years ago, with the intention to sell it after the vacation I needed it for, since I already own the 18-55 and 55-200. But I kept it, since it's a good quality lens, has excellent IS and is WR - and to be honest it holds it's value better, than my money on the bank at the moment ;-) It's a jack of all trades, master of nothing. I use it for traveling light (on a bicycle) in combination with two fast primes, when I need the light or more wide-angle... or when I need it's weather resistance (it's my only WR). If I can pack a little more I prefer the two-zoom combination. They have better IQ (you won't see a difference on Facebook or Instagram... I also print photo-books from it's shot - far from being a bad lens), and esp. they have larger apertures at any focal-length. I did not notice a relevant difference in focus-speed or accuracy between the zooms.

Since I'm also on the way leaving Lr behind I considered ON1, Capture One and MacPhun... of which only C1 currently has the DAM part covered... but the other two plan to deliver it 2018. But I never considered Silkypix (mainly to the reason the version coming with the Fuji-cam is lacking so much features - really not sure, if Ichikawa is doing itself a favour bundling such a ancient version with new cameras). Seems Silkypix Studio Pro 8 should be another candidate on my evaluation-list - especially, since you get 100€ discount as Fuji-user.

Sad to hear that - it sounds strange to me, that the X-T2 is not holding through a rain-shower... I know, it is not supposed to be submerged in water - but what weather the sealing is build for, if not rain? I used my X-T1 in hours of slight rain... even my "officially not sealed" Yongnuo 560 worked without problems... rain drops are exactly, what the sealing should prevent from entering the body. An accidental splash of water imho is no "weather", but would be splash-proof (what e.g. my mobile is).

I also got the Nissin i40 as on camera TTL, when needed - and two Yongnuo 560 IV manual flashes with the 560TX and two simple receivers for controlled, remote work. So I can fire up two three manual setup flashes remotely (incl. my i40 on one of the receivers), which usually is enough for my setups. The Yongnuos have proven to be powerfull, fast and relyable... even used them in slight rain without issues. Hopefully the i40 will get the HSS-capability soon - or the comparable Metz offers that. HSS is the only thing I'm sometimes missing.

Some cosplay pics from a shooting with Iro Farbklecks and earlgrey dressed as Ciel and Sebastian from "Black Butler". Shot with the X-T1 and my beloved Fujinon 35mm f1.4 on a rainy day near Munich, Germany.

to be honest - I did not hear about this rumor. I would welcome a lens in this range with better IQ, than the 18mm f2 - but it should be f1.7 or more, to offer added value to the standard-zoom 18-55mm.

Why less is more (if you know what you’re doing)...

Did something similar a few hours ago... not such a great location - just wanted to play with an ND-Filter and my small Cullmann Magnesit Copter "Tripod" during an afternoon-walk.- 2 replies

Hi LightShaper, I'm using Yongnuo RF-603 II on my X-T1 successfully now... The first ones I bought where V1.0 (you can find version printed on the side of the packing) and did not work with my Fujifilm. I send them back and got another one with V1.2, which work as expected. Regards, Thorsten

- 70mm f2.x 1:1 Macro OIS - 18mm f1.x WR (ideally not much bigger, than the current one, but optically improved)

Thank you - this portrait tought me a lesson: Even if you are just testing your lens and manual focusing skills - go the full way and also do your composition right. Your test-pictures may be a "keeper". When I reviewed my testshots at home I saw how much I liked this test-pic and now really regret, that I simply framed his head in the middle (zoom-help focus on the eye) and did not care to zoom out again to check the composition (I cut the hands, should have moved the head more to the upper-right). But I really like the lens' character...

I love the old Olympus OM lenses, since they where always build compact, though delivering outstanding optical quality. Here's a portrait of my dad with the Olympus 50mm f1.4

Maybe we should set up a four answer poll regarding IBIS: 1) I already have used cameras with IBIS and I would want Fujifilm to integrate it into X-cameras 2) I have not used IBIS and I wan't Fujifilm to integrate it into X-cameras 3) I already have used.... and I'm against... 4) I have not used IBIS... and I'm against... Cause e.g. I have used Olympus cameras in the past (not even the modern 5-axis IBIS ones) - I IBIS would be a major reason for me to upgrade the X-T1 body in the next years. Otherwise I'm totally happy with it.

My delivery-guy visited me twice this week... got the shirt yesterday and the Samyang 2 hours ago... so of course I needed to replicate "some funny work" ;-)

So back to the expected sample-shot discussion... from the picture I would guess for a 105cm A-cup... but I doubt Bert Stephani usually wears bras ;-)

No selfies here... I only try to take beautiful pictures ;-)

Great discussion - since I'm currently struggling with the same decision... Have the 35mm, just bought the 12mm Samyang for UWW, but I'm still missing somethin in between for indoor/low light group-shots (where the 35mm already is too long) and also as walkaround lens for street. The 23 almost is too close to the 35mm - the 16mm adds WR, but may almost be a little bit wide? A better 18mm would be ideal ;-)
