  1. Thanks for the reply. It was weird because I took the battery out and tried again but the same thing happened, tried again with a different battery and the same thing happened again. Still not having the problem again now though Need to take it on a photowalk as I've not had enough opportunities to take pictures since Saturday.
  2. Hi all, I've searched but haven't found any threads about this, but if I'm wrong then I'd be grateful if someone directed me to the right thread. I was shooting a wedding yesterday with my X-T1 and X Pro2. My X-T1 had the 56mm lens, and about 100 shots into bridal prep the camera just froze. The image in the EVF/LCD was refreshing as I moved the camera around but no controls were working at all. It definitely wasn't locked, and I was shooting in AF-S, single point. On FW 4.30. This morning I've taken a few shots to replicate the issue but it hasn't as of yet occurred. Any ideas? It's still in warranty so I'm thinking it probably needs to go in for repair. Thanks!
  3. After posting a few of my street shots in the 'Street Photography' open thread, I thought it might be an idea to start a topic specifically for technique / individual approaches to street photography. I imagine some of the responses will be down the path of 'I grab my camera, go out and shoot', but in this wonderful, vastly open genre there are a lot of different approaches...and one of the things that draws me to street photography is that there are no hard and fast 'rules', just different interpretations of 'Street Photography'. So lets start with an example. Love him or hate him, one of the modern day kings of Street Photography is Bruce Gilden. His technique is could be distilled to getting right up close and personal with a flash, often generating some sort of response from the subject. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRBARi09je8 is a good example of how he works. Compare this to Matt Stuart, for example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhSaR5ckKZI and some real differences in approach start to emerge. Anyway, that's just to get the ball rolling. Fuji-wise, perhaps it would be worth also posting any tips and tricks you've found work well specifically with the Fuji system. It might be worth showing some examples to demonstrate any points you've got, but if we could keep this from being a gallery of Street pictures without explanation that would be good. My current approach to Street Photography resonates with the quote from the Gilden video I posted above: 'If you can smell the street by looking at the photo, it's a street photograph'. I'm not a fan of his obtrusive method, but I feel like this quote says a lot about being up close and putting the viewer right there in the scene. Candid, close images are for me my favourites. In terms of technique, I tend to favour zone focusing - I'll usually set my aperture to around f/8 and manual focus to a set distance. The 23mm 1.4 is brilliant for this as it displays a distance scale on the top of the lens. I'm looking forward to hearing what you all do, novices and experienced shooters alike.
  4. A few more of mine... SP-453 SP-451 SP-404 SP-324 All from the X-T1 with the 23mm. I had a thought, and wondered if anyone would be interested in starting a thread on street technique and how they go about getting their shots? It might be interesting to share some knowledge, because I know there are lots of different approaches to street photography....compare Bruce Gilden for example with Matt Stuart.
  5. After figuring out how to add pictures, here are a few of mine! First one on the X Pro 2 and the rest with the X-T1.
  6. At the risk of sounding dense, how does one post an image here?
  7. More of what everyone else is saying here really. I desperately wish my XT1 had dual card slots as I find it reassuring to have my work backed up on the fly with the X pro 2. I guess it will have the larger sensor and snappier autofocus like the x pro 2, so they're also a couple of things I'll be looking for. I love my XT1 to bits though, so I really hope it upgrades the XT1 without changing it....if that makes sense. Higher refresh rate on the EVF would be nice, but seems probable anyway. For me, I don't feel like I want the EVF to get any bigger, as it's pretty much ideal where it is to me. I've never shot video on my cameras so 4K doesn't really interest me. Focus lever would be good (and I imagine it will be on there anyway) but mostly from a muscle memory point of view; I'm finding swapping between x pro 2 and xt1 is occasionally leaving me fiddling around trying to find a joystick that isn't there...
  8. I'll be interested to know if you get the problem with OVF too, kool. When I was shooting on Saturday with my first x pro 2 I was using a combo of the EVF and OVF and it happened for both of them, but one of the most interesting things about this problem is that it seems to have a mind of it's own.
  9. Hi all! I've done a brief introduction when I found myself posting on another thread but thought I'd come here to introduce myself too. I'm Matt and I'm a wedding photographer professionally and a street photographer in my free time (basically any hour I have to spare...) I came to photography about 10 years ago with a Sony Alpha 200, which was ok and I thought it was great at the time. Moved over to a Canon 7D, then also acquired a 1D mk II, before making the big 5D mk III purchase. I love the 5D mk III but honestly never thought of it as anything other than the 'power tool' equivalent of a camera; reliable, dependable, and there to get the job done. I heard Kevin Mullins speak at The Photography Show in 2015 and became increasingly interested in the Fuji system, and bought myself an XT1 last Summer. Since then, I've been hooked. I must confess that I wasn't hugely sold on the 18-55mm 2.8-4 but that drove my towards primes, which I'm very happy about because I'm now the proud owner of a 23mm 1.4 and 56mm 1.2. Occasionally I wish I could go wider (and will probably end up getting the 14mm, but aside from that I really don't feel like I need anything else from my lenses. I purchased an X Pro 2 a couple of weeks ago, which I love. So, long story short, I used the word 'love' in my last paragraph and honestly that's what I felt like I was missing with Canon; killer cameras, but I didn't get the same sense of artistry and passion from using them. Bye bye power tools, hello paint brush.
  10. I'm quite partial to a bit of fuji porn. For me it depends on the situation; Street photography (my "hobby" photography) : X Pro 2, 23mm 1.4, a couple of spare batteries Wedding photography (my "work" photography) : X Pro 2 X-T1 23mm 1.4 56mm 1.2 5 spare batteries Some 32gb kingston cards ..food.... In both circumstances I like to try my best to travel light. My bag is a Manfrotto Professional (10 I think?) - perfect for the weddings with extra padding, and great for a 2 day street trip to cram my various overnight odds and ends in.
  11. I have an X-T1 and X-Pro 2 and have also noticed the blue tint on the EVF. Although it's not great, to be totally honest when I was in the middle of a session my mind switched off to it. I find it more jarring though if I chimp at all and notice the LCD looking slightly warmer (presumably as a result of me getting used to the blue tint in the EVF).
  12. My new one is 61M09 (and currently still no problem), as was my previous one that had the issue. I could believe a dealership not being aware of the problem (although with one as big as b&h, surely someone else has had it come up?) but it seems very odd to me that Fuji aren't really acknowledging it at all.
  13. Yes brianmilo, LCE is where I bought it and they had one in stock to swap with my other one...they initially said it would need to be sent off to Fuji to be fixed but I wasn't too happy with that given that it's two weeks old, so they were more than happy to swap it. That's a shame bffmike, maybe they do all have it. I too have read of people that have had a replacement but still had the issue. I took 1,000 frames today without any problems and another 300 with flash without any trouble (I'm not normally that prolific with my images but thought it wouldn't hurt to see if the problem reared it's ugly head again), no problems yet. I had the issue about 100 shots with the very first camera, and then again at regular 200 or so shot intervals so I'm hoping it may be gone with this one, but having said that it seems that the frequency of the issue varies from camera to camera...some people get it loads and others have had it just the once. I wonder, if it is a problem with every camera, what Fuji will do about it. Could be pretty big if it's all hardware problems. Anyway, for now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my current one!
  14. Just to update you, I've taken my camera back in to LCE today and they've replaced it with another one...hopefully this one wont have the same problems!
  15. Yeah tell me about it, the x pro 2 was one of the last stages for me of moving away from Canon completely but I was too freaked at the prospect of it doing it during the processional and stuck with the 5D for safe measure at that point. Real shame because I've been loving everything about the x pro 2. Hopefully though the guys at LCE will get it sorted out though.
  16. So it sounds like we've pretty much ruled out the 'only happens on slow cards', and 'only happens with flash'. Also someone suggested that it was only on the 23mm a little while back but that seems to have been completely thrown out of the equation since. Also, shooting with the 'shoot without lens' turned on doesn't seem to yield any results. I guess it's simply a fault on some cameras then? Possibly the only question that remains for me is whether they'll have a way of patching it out, but I'm not sure I want to hang around to find out when it's seemingly having the error fairly frequently.
  17. Just to update, I've spammed my shutter a little today to see if it will happen again, and it did; no flash, single shot AF, 23mm 1.4. Using a Kingston 32gb card with write speed of 80mb/s, 'shoot without lens' turned on. Can't seem to access the fuji uk support site at the moment, but it will be going back to LCE tomorrow as this can't be right.
  18. Hi all, I'm new to this forum so nice to meet you all! I'm Matt and I currently shoot an XT1 and XPro2. This thread caught my attention as I had this error happen 5 times yesterday at an event. I'm also on FW 1.01 and was using the 23mm 1.4. My biggest question (which I'm guessing no one can answer except Fuji) is whether this is something that will be fixed with an update or whether I need to take my camera back? Someone suggested turning 'shoot without lens' on, so I've done that, and more recently someone suggested it may be to do with the speed of the cards, so I'll have a look at that also.
