  1. I too have experienced the issue. I currently have 3 X Pro 2s. Long story short I had issues with the infamous 'Turn the camera off/on' error, for which Fuji replaced the cameras as they had only been out of the box for a couple of days. Now, several months down the line, 2 of the bodies are fine but one has started freezing over the last 3 weeks or so. I'm unsure what triggers this, but it essentially locks up. I'm tempted to try a faster card in it and see if that helps but my gut tells me it won't make any difference. I'm also considering reinstalling the firmware to see if that solves the problem. In the likely event that this doesn't make any difference, I'll try to video it having the error and send it off to see what can be done. I previously had an XT1 that was freezing up and it was the PCB. Fuji repaired this and it now works fine. I love these cameras to bits but...I wish they'd just do their job!
  2. It's an interesting topic, and although we're reviving an issue from quite a while back I think it deserves attention and I'd certainly agree with citral. I especially agree with the notion that ideally titles would just be Location - Year. I think it's best to let the viewer come up with their own interpretation. Sometimes (not all the time, and not necessarily in the case of this 'Slender Dreams' shot) I feel that overly descriptive titles are an attempt to rescue an image by drawing the viewer's eye to one particular element or story within the shot. Were the 'Slender Dreams' shot to be, for example 'London, 2015', you would be left with your own story of what's going on in that picture, and should that story fit alongside that implied by 'Slender Dreams' then I believe it would also lead you to question your own perspective on how you view this particular walk of life. The whole debate brings up an interesting quote in my mind from Larry Fink's book 'On Composition and Improvisation', as recommended to me about a week ago: '"Don't ever judge that woman, that older woman with the limp or the gait, because you are she. You will be she. You are of her, as she is of you." I still retain that advice today. For me, there is the underlying force of perception and perspective, and certainly, judgment can be a part of that, but it should not be the dominant force.' I guess at the core of it, we're not necessarily discussing 'judgement' right now, but more the concept of forcing your own interpretation on the viewer. Larry Fink goes on to discuss finding empathy with your subject and finding elements of yourself within the photograph. I feel that perhaps as photographers it's our job to present elements (and undoubtedly a part of that will be influenced by our own thoughts, but arguably that gives the image a personal flair) and let the viewer build up what they think it means from there. Even if you're intentionally hinting at a story in a frame, I think to then state it in the title removes the possibility that someone might see something different. Ramble over, and hopefully not a complete waste of your time to read this! It's all just one man's opinion, and I guess that's what makes photography an art not a science. On a side note, if an image has got someone's hackles up then I think it's done well to spark an emotional response, but again, that's just my opinion.
  3. I still haven't had the chance to test my X Pro 2s heavily, but I did go on a street walk with the main offender of the 3 today and it seemed perfect. So fingers crossed...!
  4. So to hopefully wrap this up, I haven't had a chance to go out shooting since the update and was wondering if anyone from this thread who has had the problem has seen it disappear with 1.02?
  5. A few hours to spare in London yesterday afternoon for a fun (but slightly wet in places) session. All with the X Pro 2 and 16mm. SP-727 SP-726 SP-721 SP-715 SP-725 by Matt Bunting, on Flickr
  6. Ha yes, I'm trying to restrain my excitement out of fear that it may stay as nothing more than a rumour...but fingers crossed!
  7. For anyone interested: http://www.fujirumors.com/breaking-full-list-of-fujifilm-firmware-updates-coming-on-june-9-x-pro2-offon-bug-fix-more/ Granted it's just a rumour at the moment, but in a couple of days we should find out whether it's fixed or not.
  8. Brilliant! Great moment captured here. Thanks for sharing!
  9. Yeah doesn't sound good to be honest, I'll be interested to hear what they have to say.
  10. How many times has the issue happened Cam2000? As always, I assume it's on the 1.01 firmware, but if it happens on many more occasions then I'd say you're probably joining the club of return for a replacement or repair.
  11. A few more from my recent trawl around London with the X Pro 2 and 16mm. SP-707 SP-613 SP-597 SP-596 SP-587 SP-593 by Matt Bunting, on Flickr
  12. Hello again everyone, Well, I some of you may remember that I had the freezing problem on a previous X Pro 2 which I took back and had a replacement for. That replacement is fine (for now). I then bought an additional X Pro 2 for work, which has taken about 3,000 pictures and now has issues. It's occasionally doing the 'Turn on/off' thing, but it's also getting what appears to be a stuck shutter, before freezing and giving up.
  13. I'm guessing yours is out of warranty dakila? Without wishing to be a drag, mine was on firmware 4.30 when it was released and the problem still occurred (you never know though, it may help). The weird thing about this problem is when it first happened I couldn't find much on the internet in the way of people with similar issues.
  14. Well hopefully your X-T1 is sorted now Minniature, but I'd be interested to know if anything changes at all so keep us posted!
  15. Fantastic stuff, love the colours in this.
  16. Thanks bffmike! It was a fun couple of days, London is great for interesting people. Bristol was fun too, will probably give Birmingham a go next.
  17. I took a trip to London on Sunday and Monday, here are a few shots. All taken with the X Pro 2 and 16mm. SP-701 SP-696 SP-682 SP-671 SP-654 SP-635 by Matt Bunting, on Flickr
  18. Hi AlphaCygni, That problem sounds like a pain, although it is slightly different from my issue as the LCD remained on and showed the change in image as I moved the camera around but wouldn't do anything else. Like you, I had to take the battery out. Fingers crossed yours was a one-off issue!
  19. Yes I too was confused by what PWB meant when they told me. That sucks Minniature, sorry to hear about your problem. Mine was under warranty so I have no idea how much it would've cost to replace this. On the plus side, the turn around time was just shy of two weeks so that seemed pretty reasonable to me.
  20. Just a note to tie this up in-case anyone has the same problem - my XT1 has been repaired, it was the PWB apparently.
  21. Some amazing weather here in the UK today. I spent the afternoon wandering around Bristol with my X Pro 2 and 16mm. Typically I use the 23mm for street photography but I thought I'd give this a go for a change. Really fantastic lens! SP-544 SP-542 SP-529 SP-525 SP-516 SP-512
  22. No sadly not Scott. I've tried various different cards of differing speeds with it and it still doesn't want to play.
  23. Yet another update....shot a wedding today with the two x pro 2s and xt1. The XT1 did well...for 50 shots, then it fell over. Basically it was from that point freezing on and off requiring the battery to be taken out. Great day, and the other cameras were beasts, but the XT1 is not looking good for a miraculous recovery. Back for repair this week by the looks of it.
  24. So for an update, I've got myself an additional X Pro 2 (this was going to happen sooner or later anyway) and will be getting an additional lens for my XT1 to see how it gets on this weekend, working on the principle that the two X Pro 2s will do the heavy lifting at the weekend but I'll have a chance to see how the XT1 is doing also. Still mildly disconcerting....
  25. Some great ideas already and really interesting hearing everyone's thoughts. As I mentioned at the start, there are so many different approaches so it's great to hear how you all approach your street photography. Coincidentally, having written about Matt Stuart in the initial thread, he's recently featured discussing his work in a podcast for thephotoshow.org. Have a listen at https://soundcloud.com/thephotoshow/matt-stuart-episode-21.
