  1. Oh man! How are we going to do without OIS ( Tongue-in-cheek alert!)... Gone are the days when one would simply buy (if he liked it) or not ( if he didn’t) a product. Now that we have the chance to whine about anything we most certainly take it. Now we expect brands to listen to us... each one of us that is! I think that I won’t be interested in this lens since I have my 60mm and I am happy, but who knows, nothing in life is forever. Of course there are those who want a 51mm, a 52mm, a 53mm....a 121mm, 122.mm...and those who cannot live without OIS and those who remember when no lens or camera had any of it and people took great pictures all the same. Just work with what you have and not against it and all problems will be gone.
  2. The problem OP was trying to fix was that I could’t open the X-T10 raw files in the LR version which he has on a 10 year old computer (which might be able, or not, to take other programs that you are suggesting). ExifChanger should work the treat you modify the Exif to one that LR recognizes and then everything works.
  3. I have shown several examples of the Helios 44-2 58mm f2 used in few creative ways or simply as a test image. There are many more HELIOS lenses though https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helios_(lens_brand) I don’t know to which exactly you are referring http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=3425 http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=2396 http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=2395 http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=2394 http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=2338 http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=2303 http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=1322
  4. I love the Petzval and I would have already bought one if I wouldn’t be afraid of investing too much in a “ one trick pony” Instead I have been experimenting with cheaper lenses and perhaps you’ve seen some of my experiments here. http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/2599-new-bokeh-monsters-or-classic-cheap-adapted-glass/ There are more things that I’ve done with other implements such as the tilt adapter index.php
  5. I love customization. It certainly says things about oneself and it is not, normally, pretending anything just showing off, which I really don’t think there is anything wrong with. Again, although I am not personally into steampunk myself I could see how a steampunk treatment would work on a Fuji camera. Awaiting someone who will do something like this on a working Fuji camera! I think that building this around a Petzval on a fuji camera would be really a great start. (not my camera)
  6. Of course one can do anything one wants with the things that are his or hers. Not only on a camera since there are people out there who are into more or less extreme forms of body modification and yes, it is their body even if some have managed to make it look like a serious accident happened to them. The freedom to do anything that you want with things that are “ yours” doesn’t prevent the rest of people to have a reaction and an opinion about what amounts to communication. If I wear a t-shirt with a shocking text is because I want to shock people. If people are shocked: 1) I shouldn’t be surprised 2) I’ve achieved what I wanted to do If I make a camera to look like it has been used a very long time, and in so doing implying that I am: 1) a photographer which shoots really a lot 2) a photographer which only cares about the “ substace of things” as I have a working camera that looks like shite, but hey, I am “ degagee” and only care about function. (...except that now the looks are not the result of use but the result of a preordained desire to show how much I photograph so I maybe caring about its looks even more than I care about its function, no?)
  7. I wonder what are the permutations between 1 and 1000mm including any number of zoom combination overlapping each other. That’s how I feel when people “ ask” Fuji to produce a lens to cater for the market of ONE.
  8. I know I opened a thread on these things before this one was opened http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/2619-would-you-make-a-“-relic”-version-of-your-camera-and-why/ these things are everywhere artificially aged watch 41-tLlqcdcL.jpg
  9. The Lenny Kravitz model is a simulacrum not an hommage.
  10. yes, how much more? and who does ever reach anywhere near the limits of a 16Mp?
  11. Leica declares “ For instance, the glossy black enamel of the camera and the two lenses have been intentionally aged in homage to a well-used camera system, showing a distinctive patina that would usually point to many years of constant use. To achieve this look, every camera and lens of the edition was ‘aged’ entirely by hand to create absolutely unique individual products." Of course every forger says they made an “ hommage “ and not a forgery.
  12. One of the reasons of the succes of Fuji is indeed its “ vintage” looks, but that doesn’t mean that they are pretending that the cameras were used to death. Leica, with the Lenny Kravitz reporter model does. I find that beneath their level and they should have never done that Leica-M-P-Typ-240-Lenny-Kravitz-edition-camera.jpg I am not against looks ( I would approve of a good steampunk camera ) or even personalization ( I love the Asahi Aki skins and probably will buy one) I am against pretending. I’ve discussed this thread with my wife and we came up with the concept that you could maybe sell pre stained kitchen aprons to show that you are a good cook? It’s like buying a fake diploma from a bogus university ( I use to get those emails long ago) and hang it up behind your desk. I once met such a person and he was also reminiscing the time when he was at university (while he had never been there). A fake by any other name is still a fake.
  13. No, it is not a rangefinder camera it is an optical viewfinder camera. Cameras with an optical viewfinder without a rangefinder, were around already when I was a kid and that was a long time ago, so, no fake there. Agfa_Click-II.jpg The Italian language has given the world a great idiom which isn’t used by any other language and that is “ climbing on mirrors” to mean when someone fights to find a logical explanation and justification where there isn’t one.
  14. “ A rose is a rose is a rose is a rose “ and "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" A fake is a fake is a fake is a fake and call it what you want, it remains a fake.
  15. So, that fact shows that you switch on and off you camera a lot. They are scars produced by use. What does OP’s scratches caused by abrasion made with sandpaper or steel wool say? You got to earn your stripes, scars and scratches. What would you think of someone making an offroad car with spray paint simulating mud? I know that you now probably think that I am crazy but not, it does exist! https://www.theguardian.com/science/2005/jun/14/uknews “ ...According to the company's website, spray-on mud can help give your friends, family and neighbours the impression you've just come back from a day's shooting, fishing or visiting friends who live on a farm; anything but driving around in town all day or visiting an out-of-town retail park. "People may want to look like they've been off-road, but they certainly don't want any chips or scratches on the paintwork while they're doing the school run,”...." There are now “ wraps” simulating the dirt of a race car on a car that hasn’t raced a second in his life, and that’s a good job because most of their drivers would die because they are certainly inapt to race a car but they want “ the look" worn-out-martini-livery-porsche-911-gt3-rs-has-awesome-beater-look_7.jpg distress new, old looking furniture, burnt o made on purpose, from pieces, but expensive, of course and their cheap equivalent copies too dutch-design-chair-made-from-durable-cardboard-3.jpg Willow-5-Drawer-Chest-LARK2415.jpg These are times of “ pretend” Tattoos can be bought, scars have to be earned!
  16. No, unless you are enamored with it for some reason. Buy a secondhand X pro 1 (for cheap) or 2 ( if you really want the latest) or (if you can live without the OVF) a secondhand X-E2 Then buy a 23mm or a 27mm or a zoom ( and all the lenses that you want!) and you will have periodical updates which X-T100 won’t have.
  17. Cheers! It is obvious from previous reports concerning malfunctions following updates that, despite the camera having protection against our behavior, things may and indeed do go wrong. http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/index.php?s=3dda3d5b748850e5d567273a76d8c4ba&app=googlecse#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=not%20working%20after%20update So, erring on the safe side of updating is something which MIGHT prevent malfunctions generated by potential conflicts. The more variables you introduce the more possibilities there are for things to go wrong. IF... things go wrong, sometimes it will be possible to try re-installing the firmware hoping that the camera will complete parts of the firmware which weren’t copied. But this doesn’t always work. IF... it doesn’t I am facing sending the camera away for several weeks ( lab is in Germany we don’t have one in the NL) where they will do the overwriting of the firmware with a turn around not inferior to 6 weeks. AS I said. Err on the side of caution!
  18. For the reasons that I’ve mentioned before, I would certainly err on the side of caution and do the updatedsone by one. What have you got to lose? A bit of time? The number of things that could go wrong are very high (certainly if you are upgrading a number of lenses) and the, even remote, possibility that you would then have to send your camera for service to reupload all the software frankly speaking would scare me. What is the benefit? Saving few minutes? Not worth the risk!
  19. I don’t know it it is possible but I really think it is best to do this one by one, why would they, otherwise, tell you to do this on a formatted card? If the camera could, without any problems, chose the software it needs among all the data on the card without any interference formatting wouldn’t be necessary. I think that it is best to do all operations one by one. Remember that if you camera gets mixed up with conflicting data you might not be able to restore its functions alone for the same reason that downgrading is not possible.
  20. done. Only one thing, why did they exclude the version one of the 50-230? I am not going to obsess over this but it sucks.
  21. I had a Kenko polarizer and no vignetting index.php
  22. Well there you go, people are different their expectations and experience vary. I am not going to make this a contest.
  23. unlikely since the average life of any digital camera before clients “upgrade" doesn’t exceed 5 years
