  1. I would do too, if I were in your shoes. But although I started with the 35mm only, as yourself, I have the chosen for a completely different set. (Samyang 8,12, Fuji 18-55, 60, 50-230)
  2. agree, generation 2 doesn’t seem to offer any quantum leaps. The 100-400 certainly is not for me.
  3. exactly, the capability to focus won’t depend from the aperture being one stop faster. Not only the EVF shows you an amplified image which only depends at extreme values of the maximum opening of your lens.
  4. this was already established quite sometime ago. Again no camera can ever please everyone.
  5. two entirely different beasts with different performances. If you really think that you will ever shoot a wide angle for its bokeh rendering or its “ speed” at f1.4 and than maybe the 16 is your lens. The 14 is a more traditional lens and you can find it secondhand a lot cheaper, I personally, between the two would chose that one. The WR of the 16 lens is pointless, on a camera that isn’t WR.
  6. Could be but I sort of doubt it. This camera is all about being economical to the max. In many ways it borrows a lot from the X-A1, X-M1.
  7. And, when it comes to pricing, a lot of things will depend upon local situations. The X-T1 was €1,199 when introduced in the NL and now after 2 years it is... €1,199 ! Slow market around here, only occasional cash backs ( not like the UK and we cannot buy those because they are only for residents) and no price fighting among the shops here. Look, there is only ONE shop (never heard of them, they do not appear to have a physical shop and they are not “ official dealer” which doesn’t make me want to rush sending them my hard earned cash ) among 20 ( many have chains with many shops around the country) which sells the X-T1 at a different, lower, price. http://www.kieskeurig.nl/systeemcamera/product/1850572-fujifilm-x-t1/prijzen Different kettle of fish elsewhere in the world.
  8. given the choice of lenses that you have available to you ( I am not going to advise any lens or lenses that you haven’t got to your avail ) and the need to reduce things to a minimum I too would take the 16-55 and nothing else but the one camera with the lens.
  9. looks might be deceiving but from where I am standing it appears to be very plasticky and frankly looking a bit cheap, with this large sleek black (plastic?) surface as opposed to the old fashioned leather or leatherette of the X100 series. Still, it might be a great performer , but to whom? The 18,5mm lens puts it into the same territory, in terms of effective focal length, of the wide angle adapter that you can use on the X100 series 23mm lens. If this camera comes at a price close to that of the adapter ( $350) and the quality of its lens is comparable to the one of the X100 (s-t) + adapter, then the owner of one of these camera might decide to buy one of these as a second, wide angle, body, but if not who is going to buy this and why? Anyway, it’s early days, we shall see. I am sure that viewfinders for this cameras will pop up like crazy made in China. It is a fixed wide angle lens with a focal length not far from the one of many adapters of the past, they were often sold with a viewfinder.
  10. there shouldn’t be, according to rumors, any in body stabilization
  11. simulation of any film only ever describes the fact it would look alike that film. In theory you could have done this yourself even before this “ preset” existed by manipulating a raw. There is no other relation to a preset having the name of a film type, the resolution of the sensor is not improved because the processor simulates the rendering and dynamic range of a film. Cameras could simulate films with only 25 ISO but for that you don’t need the minimum sensitivity to match the one of the film.
  12. or is there any reason not to keep it?
  13. I believe this is what’s at play here
  14. A Rainy day in India, hardly unusual, street vendor children or begging children (unfortunately not unusual too) looking in a cab. People in the cab take pictures, hundreds of them fail, this one was a good one and better than McCurry’s photograph. Well done, deserve praise for it and you should certainly show it.
  15. This is not, yet, probably the most pressing of problems for Fuji photographers because, let’s be honest, the Fuji system lacks long lenses and it is, because of that, most probably, not the most widely used system by wildlife photographers. Yet, soon there will be things like the 100-400mm. This is an accessory which is supposed to facilitate following moving objects when pointing at them a camera with a long telephoto lens. It works, more or less, as the sights of a rifle. Whether it would really simplify things remains to be seen (literally ) Maybe to be used with something like this? Cotton Carrier Steady Shot with Camera Vest (Black)
  16. I didn’t say it was nice, but it certainly exclusive and rather pointless
  17. Since we talk of luxury Item, Do you want to put your camera in an EXCLUSIVE bag with style Here it is ( only £417!) And if you like a bit of bling ... how about this? They might be convinced to make a Fuji version too!
  18. exactly, I have been setting a countdown calendar somewhere on this forum already!
  19. I do a fair bit of buying and selling on Marktplaats in the NL, very large marketplace. Ebay.nl is the owner of Marktplaats but ebay.nl has almost nothing ( marktplaats is free and we are thrifty over here ).
  20. Yes, I like going to nice shops and browse. Sometime ago I was in London and went to Hermes there (my wife always says that a city isn’t a city with no Hermes shop, Amsterdam didn’t have one until relatively recent times) and I asked to see a particular handbag. It was very nice but had one of these outrageous Hermes prices. So I asked if they had the larger version ( it came into 3 sizes) and they said that they didn’t but they could order one for me and it would be there in 3 months. I said that I was so sorry to hear that and that I was in London only for the day and the day after was my wife’s birthday . Beautiful though these things are their price is also outrageous. But some folks would only buy things like this! Have you seen the latest RR encrusted with 446 diamonds in the car’s roof?
  21. well, that’s a fair price. I bought my first recent one locally some time ago, that too was a copy with oil on the aperture blades ( I gather this is a common “ fault”) , for more or less the same price that you paid, but that copy I sold it in order to buy a newer multi coated version (with not as many blades but the amount of blades is irrelevant when you use this lens fully open which maximizes the swirl effect). Most Dutchies would speak English so, no worries. In case, alongside the English, your other language is French, there are other possibilities like this classified Belgian site Such as http://www.2ememain.be
  22. again the discrepancies between the rumor and the downpayment made by T-man are substantial so one is right and the other isn’t, which is which we will know only later on.
  23. You bought it far away? These are very common secondhand in the NL and would have taken just two or three days.
  24. we shall see, as for now, these are all only rumors about prices with wide variations and a downpayment which might be subject to changes (up or down). Since T-man says that he might pay less, this is obviously not a contract to provide the camera at that price, is just an amount paid upfront. We will cross that bridge when we get there.
