Hi everyone. Just bought my retirement gift to myself - an XT-5 with 16-50 and 70-300 lenses and cant wait to get started. Used to be a keen photographer before life got in the way and have continued, albeit with phone, but despite it taking decent photos, I want to move on to the next level. Really excited about to getting to grips with this beast and realise what a steep learning curve I'm on and will be looking for plenty of advice and tips.3 points

XF 18-120mm F/4 for video: parfocal? Stepping aperture?
jerryy reacted to Claudio Monelli for a topic
Thank you so much, Jerryy! The article is very interesting and now I'm confident about the aperture stepping. About the parfocal property, I have information that the first FW releases didn't fix the initial issues (focusing mistakes in zooming), but a following resease solved the problem: I would like to have a confirmation by some actual user of the lens. Very kind of you, Jerryy!!1 point -
Thanks Jerry Changed both settings and it worked perfectly.1 point

Sacra di San Michele

From the album: Photos
The Sacra di San Michele is one of the oldest monuments in Piedmont. The first chapel dates back to the 4th century AD, and many other spaces were added over the following centuries, culminating in the current structure. It is (along with the Basilica of Superga and the Mole Antonelliana) one of the three symbolic monuments of the province of Turin. A curiosity: If you draw a straight line southeast from Skellig Michael (Skellig Islands, Ireland), you'll intersect with extraordinary precision other places consecrated to the Saint (St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall, Mont-Saint-Michel in France, Sacra di San Michele and Monte Sant'Angelo in Italy, Monastery of St. Michael in Greece), after which the straight line reaches Jerusalem exactly... According to legend, the "Sacred Line of Saint Michael" was traced by the sword thrust the Saint inflicted on the Devil to send him back to hell. The cult of the Saint, of Eastern origin, spread to the West thanks primarily to Emperor Constantine, who in 313 AD built a basilica dedicated to the Archangel in Constantinople.1 point -

Tamron 150-500mm lens opinion?
thelostkiwi reacted to jerryy for a topic
I have a copy of Tamron’s 150 - 600mm G2 lens. It has really good image quality and is easy to use. I have heard the one you are asking about is similar. Will you be able to test it? The only drawback for me with my lens is after carrying it around for a while, it gets heavy and so on the tripod it goes. Also, it was not a FX mount lens, so I use a Fringer smart adapter, but that has never been a problem.1 point -
X-T5 blurry corner-to-corner pictures?
MARRIEDGUY9 reacted to jerryy for a topic
I do not think adding this will help you much, but it may give you some perspective. After reading your posts in this thread several times to make certain I am not missing anything, the numbers you are reporting are in line with those reported across the broad range of digital cameras by various manufacturers. Nikon, Canon, Sony, Leica, Fujifilm, etc. Use your favorite search engine to lookup (brand) af keeper rate. People are reporting af keeper rates now in the high ninety range. You will find page after page of tips and technique improvements for improving the keeper rate. As well as page after page from the manufacturers touting their new camera models with improved af keeper rates. af is vastly improved, but it still is not perfect. It maybe that there is something slightly wrong with either your camera body or the lens, but I suspect that if you send it in to get it checked, it probably will be okay. Getting a new XH2 will make your camera dealer happy and it is a fantastic camera, but, …, getting it solely in hopes of better keeper rates is probably wishful hoping. For what it worth, (more of what you probably do not want to hear) back in the film days, a af keeper rate over 50% was considered great. Those expensive film rolls certainly did not hold the thousands of shots memory cards hold. I very well understand the thought of maybe missing that one shot, try when possible to push the shutter button several times, those cards hold a lot of shots and it is easy to delete the extras. I hope you get this resolved in a way you like.1 point -
