Fuji X App Not Working - Anyone Else Having Same Issues?

Recommended Posts

Unlike most other Fujifilm users, I never had a problem with the old Fujifilm Remote App and my X-T5. Pictures were transferred reliably and with no issues from camera to phone. I was massively looking forward to the new X App with its updated look, timeline and activity menus. Put simply, everything works apart from image transfer (which is a massive issue). I’ve tried formatting the memory card, formatting my camera and reinstalling the app - nothing has worked. I couldn’t wait to use the app on my trip to Portugal in three weeks, it looks like I’ll be re-downloading the old faithful Remote App again :(

Have any of you guys had similar issues?

When you say "everything works" does that include the ability to use live view and take photos? What happens after you have taken a photo using live view? You switch to image transfer  (at the top of the screen - the download icon) and see the image you have just taken - select the image and "Transfer the selected image" button should appear - do you see that? Does the button not transfer the image?

Or where exactly is the problem? And what error message do you get (if any)?

Lets me take photos, but not transfer to the iPhone. Camera connects via Wi-Fi but then just hangs. Similar to Timeline and Activity buttons, they record where I took the photo and what lens/film I used, but no photos. The issue seems to be in the transfer of the photo. I've reinstalled the Remote App and that is working...

At what point does it hang? Wi-fi needs to connect successfully in order for you take take photos in live view.

If you have taken photos using live view do you see the "Download" and "Camera" icons at the top of the screen?

Do you see the image you just took when you touch the download icon?

If so do you get the "Transfer the selected Image" button after you select the image you just took?

If so - and you press the image is that the point it hangs?

Bluetooth connects and then it asks me to connect with wi-fi. After confirming it hangs.

Live view? In the camera? When I use remote control I can’t see the camera screen, just the button.

no.

Images don’t pop up at all.

I’ve uploaded what it looks like when I try the Image Aquisition button. For the record I have allowed the app to use the Local Network.

Ah I see - did you get the "Waiting for Connected" message on the back of the camera when the app tried to join the Wi-Fi network?

As a last resort you might try backing up all your settings and then doing a complete reset of everything.

Yeah was waiting for connected the whole time. I already have! Formatted everything!

Sorry couldn't help - frustrating - worked for me with both iPad and iPhone and both X-S10 and X-H2S - the wi-fi is slow but at least it works

Please i beg for help... I purchased a new Xt5 last week, i managed to pair/connect my camera to my phone after the firmware update (2.01) and transfer files. Yesterday i took a lot of photos so i wanted to transfer them to my phone, i tried to connect the camera but it couldnt, was searching the bluetooth device forever, so after a while, decided to delete the camera from the app, and delete all the records from the camera menu. Since then, i coundt even get to pair the camera again, followed all the basic instructions but nothing works, the app search for a devide forever, even after you choose the model manually, like 100 times. Already tried restoring settings.

    • It is really easy to find out if the wifi is on. Your computer or tablet or cell phone will have a network settings dealing with wifi, bluetooth, ethernet or “other”. Open that up and go into the section for wifi, and take note of which networks are listed. Turn on the camera and keep watching the list of networks. If your camera’s wifi is turned on, a new network should suddenly show up in your computer/tablet/phone’s network listings. Now go into the camera’s menus and start a wireless connection (the x-app or camera remote app can help you with this). You should see a network show up now. It is not hidden because it has to be visible so that your computer/tablet/phone can join the camera’s network to transfer images. Turn the camera off and that network should disappear. Turn the camera back on and see what happens.

    • I think my Fuji 150-600 F8 is a brilliant wildlife lens in terms of sharpness, portability and value but the small aperture does cause issues at the start and end of the day - even pushing the ISO as far as I dare, I can see shutter speed down to 1/25s - stabilisation isn't an issue but asking a deer to stand still for that is too much! In the same situation, an F4 would give 1/100s so the difference to the success rate would be phenomenal... and that's without the other improvements like shallower depth of field. I also find that the Fuji's subject detect AF gets pretty iffy in low light - I keep updating to the latest firmware but it doesn't seem to get any better. I was originally looking at the Nikon 500mm F4 E but good examples secondhand are still reasonably expensive but like-for-like Sigma lenses are around half the price. Reviews I have read suggest that they are as good optically, AF performance and IS-wise but you gain a few hundred grams of weight (but less than the older Nikon model). For a couple of grand, I can live with that. Does anyone have any experience mounting one on an XH2S? What about with the 1.4 teleconverter? It feels like that is pushing it anyway - hefty lens + TC + Fringer all sounds a bit...wobbly? It is on the Fringer approved list but I am wary about AF speed in particular. I had also considered looking for a used Nikon 400mm F2.8, which would be even faster (and heavier) and could couple with a TC to give 560mm F4 but again, it is that lens+TC+Fringer combination that worries me as being just too many links in the chain. Of course, what I really want is a native Fuji prime but that doesn't seem to be on the horizon - and if you look at what Nikon and Sony are doing, if Fuji do ever bring out a 500mm prime, it will probably be a small, light and cheapish F5.6, which is only 2/3 stop better than my zoom at the same focal length. Any thoughts anyone?
    • The Amazon link is an annoying feature of this forum - its automatic and is applied to every post for advertising purposes. My question was - how do you know the camera wi-fi is on and requires turning off? I would have thought this would just use up the battery for no purpose if you aren't specifically using a function that requires wi-fi.
    • I've made a point to push Angelbird memory products as they are the best performance cards you can get, The sustained write speed is important.
