Oh My Gosh! Just received a GREAT RUMOR! Just a Hint for now... more soon!

Recommended Posts

- a Fuji X air drone

- a Fuji X submarine drone

- Fuji X glasses

:P  :D

What I would like to have:

- X-E3 with the specs of an X-T1 (incl. tilting screen, WR and big EVF)

- with 24 MP Sensor

- XF 23 mm f/2 pencake (like the lens from the X100 series)

When Fuji releses this combo, I will sell my X-T1 and X100s immediately and buy this combo.

I simply love the usability of the rangefinder style (EVF on the left side) and the specs of the X-T1. And I love the compactness of the X100 series (I don't need the OVF). So put it all togehter, and this will be my dream camera system.

- Monochrome

- XF 23 Pancake

- Mid Format

Sounds interesting! Of course, a first logical step for a MF camera would be with a fixed lens, like the 35mm FOV in FF format. If a zoom is prefered, the 24-70/85mm FOV in FF format would be fantastic (like XF 16-55mm used on 1.5X crop format). So I would vote for a 23mm filed of view in FF format, F2.0, for this new MF. Weather-sealed, better battery life (with more realistic battery indicator) and the top tech from Fuji to date (like the performances found in firmware Ver 4.0 for X-T1)

Bartender, I'll have what he's having!

OK, this will either spark condescending debate or ...

I loved the body and lenses of the GX680 Line, I used one with a Phase 1 back and the results were nothing less than breathtaking, the tonal seperation, colours, DR... the list goes on. I think that Fuji could get great mileage from just modernizing the 680 Body so it comms with the NEW back, but make it compatible with current lenses. That way they have time before they need release new versions of the lenses with newer glass and/or designs.

There is a huge selection of very affordable, very highend Fuji GX glass out there and this approach would give them an instant full range MF market.

Or not... :-)

Or an X-Pro 2 the size of an X-E, with the specs and AF of the X-T1 (or better), and a 24Mp... Bayer sensor (unless someone can convince me that the X-Trans layout brings tengible benefits  ;) ). Improved DR would not harm either.

And a few f/1.8 primes (not necessarily pancakes, just more compact).

This is my wish list.

- APC-C version of XP waterproof / shock proof camera with big builtin flash for under water photography

- X-T1 successor with below

  - Bigger grip without need for handgrip extension

  - Moderate increase in number of pixels

  - Enhanced video performance and perhaps 4K support

  - Inbody optical image stablization

  - Built in flash

  - Up to 5 levels of EV braketing

  - More customizable Fn keys

  - Customizable dials

- X series wish list in general

  - Remote TTL external flash support thru built in wireless transmitter.

  - More choice needed for low cost lens.  Perhaps we need more third party manufacturers?

  - Need for long and lightweight telephoto prime lens with WR and OIS, such as 200mm F2.8, 300mm F4?

  - Update current lens, such as 23mm, 56mm, to have WR.

  - An option to force JPG instead of RAW in high speed continuous shooting modes (thru future firmware updates.)

- Larger sensors

  - Good to have full frame or medium format, but I don't want to spend more money on lens.  APC-C lens for Fuji today are more expensive than equivalent full frame lens from Canon / Nikon already.

You asked for a wishlist...?

Coming from the Sony A7 and as an Amateur, I do not really seek Full Format, it was just too hard to battle depth of field combined with an unreliable autofocus.

I produced some of the most beautiful shots, but still also missed too many moments of my children (and no, I do not want a classic DSLR ;).

So what would make me happy?

one

an innovative new sensor with maybe 24 MP, with

a further improved low light performance and also

b strongly improved autofocus esp. in low light

two

highly useable video performance,

ideally combined with

three

built-in sensor stabilization ala Olypus E-M5II (granted this is a hard one, but so worth extra money)

four

the auto-mode switch of the X-T10, but with

one full auto for my wife, and in addition one custom auto so one can easily get a snapshot when necessary

That would be it, really - for my needs.

A new sensor is overdue, and it should be one that really lets the qualiy of those wonderful lenses shine, please go and push for the limit!

Image stabilization is tricky, but not only is it very helpful for street photography - where video becomes important this adds sooo much to quality output!

And an investment into such a system should offer the full package, my small kids show me every time that pictures as art are wonderful, but also capturing emotions by video is so important.

It is hard to understand why an iPhone could eventually offer better output than a dedicated, expensive, professional and large device ;)

Do NOT even think about a zoom X100!  B)  This would denature the concept of this camera..

Instead, I'd like a new X100 with:

- tilt screen

- weather resistance

- new sensor (not strictly necessary)

And with a 10 stop ND filter!

I would personally like to see a new x bridge camera.

Specs:

1" x-trans sensor

28-300mm eq 2.8/4 lens. Mechanical zoom, manual focus and aperture ring.

Viewfinder from x-t1

3" 1080p screen.

iso, exp comp and shutter speed dials.

Weather sealed.

Under £1000

Not asking much :)

omg. who uses a X100(x) and wants a zoom lens in it? that's totally against the idea of the camera  I'd drop the line immediately if that happened.

if I could wish for something it would be a distance scale on the X100(x) lens. a proper one, not the way they've been doing with 5m and 1.5m. that's pretty useless.

OK, Ideal new camera.... still APS-C, no FF distractions. Medium Format revolution OK :-).

1) X-T* w/ 24mp (bayer & no anti-alias) sensor. Raised control buttons on rear. Continued next-cycle improvements & no feature deletion (incl. selectable AF sensor patterns)

2) X200 w/ 24mp (bayer & no anti-alias) sensor. Same features migration as latest "X-T*"

    a) above with optional true monochrome sensor/processor

3) X200T as X200 above but with true integrated Tri-non 16/23/35 f2.8 lens.

    a) above with optional true monochrome sensor/processor (e.g. X200Tm)

Just for fun,

Roger

We need to see what the present credentials of Fujifilm X are. Words like lightweight, compact, premium seem to be very important, just like the pro-camera image excellence - in both sensor & lens competences. They will never deviate too much from that. The whole range is in fact a re-considering of the same concept from (slightly) different view/budget angles - within this old school faux-RF, faux-DSLR design constraint.

I can only wish even more of this for future models.

But if you ask my real opinion - well I've always hoped that Fujifilm could become a true Leica competitor in every aspect except for the pricing (which is for Leica really nothing less than absurd). Regarding body design nothing's more to like than a compact, performant RF-alike concept. I think a further evolved version of the X-Pro1/X100 OVF/EVF concept can completely put any purely optical RF-concept to shame (to be honest, I never liked it that much and a lot of RF photographers have frequent issues that their 'perfect shot' is not fully precise on the subjects they focussed on.)

Whatever Fuji might claim in interviews, I'm afraid that going to a line of 35mm sensors @ a higher res (24-36MP or even more) is paramount to stay in business with their current mission to appeal to very demanding advanced amateur & pro photographers.  Whether that is really 100% required from a technical point of view is likely a never-ending discussion.

It has some similarity with another men's discussion: what's best - a highly-tuned, technological superbly designed 1600l engine delivering 200HP or a 3000l delivering the same power, out of the box without a lot of special design requirements. While some will claim the 1600l is the better choice for your new sports-coupé for particular reasons (I don't see to be honest, but I bet emissions and consumption will be two of them) - I'd pick the 3000l if I could just make that choice at the same price... Unfortunately in the EU the tax system forces you in the first option, that's the true problem, not existing for cameras (yet?) ;-) . A full-frame tax... hmmm, that's maybe something politicians haven't discovered yet. And providing a tax-reduction to smartphone users since they apply smaller sized-sensors - leading to a smaller ecological footprint (combining a phone and a camera requires less materials so less emissions...). Joke!

Back to Fuji, the claim that lenses have to be bigger for 35mm doesn't stand see again Leica. Add just a motor drive to those Leica M lenses and they would still be smaller than most of the present Fujinons. Going to small sensor drives Fujifilm's development into faster, larger sized lenses, that will be a permanent struggle. And because they are more wide-angle, more aspherical elements are required to reduce the distortion and let us forget the typical wide-angle artifacts. On top of it, I think dat Fuji's extremely small flange to sensor distance isn't making their lens design easy. Leica had a lot of initial issues with the M8 too (...!) to cover the entire sensor - Nikon F will NEVER face that problem ;-) .

But even if Fuji would stay with APS/C (and an organic evolution of the current size) I'm convinced that Fuji could squeeze a lot more detail and sharpness out of the native pixels when they revisit the (still not best supported and I don't see why so necessary) X-trans CFA and should go the same way all the other camera manufacturers do with a lot more success. Why not a multi-layer Foveon sensor. Beside the organic sensor development claims of quite a few companies, the multilayer concept also seems to living in a lot of manufacturer labs.

A priority for me is really a far better ISO performance (which isn't really that impressive compared to the present FF cameras). Now a Foveon and ISO-performance have never been good friends, one issue. Unless Fuji can design something better.

Well, here it is, my final quote. Give me indeed an X-Pro2-body, same size as its fabulous ancestor but now with the full-blown 35mm sensor it deserves, offering the best DR-performance on the market, ofcourse with an integrated stabilization providing us with a few extra headroom in less good light conditions. We could also use a better OVF (providing better optical info) and want the X-T1's LCD into the EVF.  Such a top notch camera has to incorporate a serious pro-AF, deliver a fully exploitable ISO of at least 25600 and the most perfect Lightroom support from day 1 (without green, color bleeding and waxy skin artifacts). Fujifilm, did you hear that?

Dream Fuji camera wishes? I have a few for different scenarios-

- Absolute first priority is 100% perfect de-mosaicing/ sharpening of X-Trans in Lightroom/ACR. If this can't be done then just use the next generation of APS-C sensor so we can get the most out of the excellent X-series bodies/lenses.

- Medium Format camera with square sensor, ONLY IF it can be made as compact and lightweight, and same form factor as as, say, a Mamiya 6 rangefinder, including the lenses.

- Just a better sensor in the cameras we already have- a bit more resolution, but much more dynamic range and bit depth.

- ISIS would be fab, and Sony and Oly have this now, it does make a difference.
