Okay, thanks. -

X-pro 1 focus or release priority?

Seriously?! 65 views and counting and no one knows the answer? I may be stupid, but I simply can't find that menu option, so started wondering if the x-pro 1 even has it? -
X-pro 2 unimpressive AF
petergabriel replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
That is exactly what happens, but not with the x-pro 1, x100t and x70. They all chose the nearest object, my hand. -

So far I am very pleased with it. And AF is not as bad as people make it out to be. -
The X-Pro1 - Still Perfectly Valid
petergabriel replied to adzman808's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
I just bought a used x-pro 1 for 380$ produced in November 2015. Like new! And I love it. Like the best of two worlds. Reminds me of my x100s but with interchangeable lenses. Perfect! -

No, sadly not, I didn't have the time. -

As a curiosum I just did the test today in the same store with my x-pro 1 (bought a used one, 380 $) and both lenses nailed my hand focus test. Same as with x100t and x70 the last time I visited the store. The plot thickens I would say :-) -
35mm f2.0 or f1.4 - never mind the noise or speed!
petergabriel replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X Lenses
Thanks. I really like the f1.4 option, but think I will try both lenses on my x-pro 1 before I decide. I really don't like the distortion the f2.0 produces when it has not been corrected with software. -

Here is one of the reviews noticing the f2.0 distortion: http://www.bokeh-monster.com/blog/fujifilm-35mm-f2-a-modest-lens -

It was a joke :-) -

Yeah, it would be really nice with a mkII with a linear motor :-) -
So, if we ignore the noise, AF speed and one stop difference of the two lenses, which one is then optically best? I have read numerous tests, blogs and reviews that say the two are both sharp, contrasty and colorful (with the f2.0 being slightly warmer) however I have also encountered quite a few tests that have tried both lenses in Capture One where you can remove the distortion and vignetting correction done by software. And in those reviews it seems like the f2.0 lose, by a large margin, as the f1.4 is optically better corrected. As it is well known, software correction slightly degrades image quality. But will it be an issue? Now, I don't have any of the lenses, so what are your thoughts if you have or have had both lenses. And remember! Disregard noise, AF speed and one stop difference. I am only after the optically best lens :-)

So, got the camera today with the 18-55, and so far I am impressed. The camera seems to be more responsive than the x100s and on par with the x100t. The auto focus, even at dusk, I am very satisfied with its performance. Especially with the 18-55 which is dead quiet and very fast. I don't know what people are comparing the x-pro 1 to when they bash its AF. I know it is not the worlds fastest, but it more than gets job done. The image quality, well, it is Fujifilm. Gotta love it! Oh, and opposite my x100s and t's waxy skin when using high iso is no where to be found on the x-pro 1. I am starting to understand why some people call the x-trans 1 sensor the best :-)

It is very subjective, but still it's peculiar that both x100t and x70 nailed the test in the same environment. Ahh, well, will try again once the x-t2 arrives and I have to decide which of the 35mm's I will purchase with it. -

Could the unkown factor be fluorescent light? I know the EVF on both cameras flickered alot in the store. Or should macro mode be enabled (can it even be enabled anymore?) to reach closest focusing? -

Not unless I go back to the store with an SD-card and replicate my test :-) -

It is 28 cm's and 35cm's depending on the lens. I held it at least 40 cm's away. I know my distances :-)
