Would 200mp make you jump ship?
benjaminthomson replied to andrew brown's topic in General Discussion
24mp would be pretty much perfect for me. -
I'd be interested to know what the history of their camera announcements has been, has it even been at trade shows in general?

X-pro2 launch, keep or sell your x-pro1?

Keep my xp1, sell my xt1 -
[quote name="Sidtw" post="13836" timestamp="14449248 Fuji should really spend some resources of getting the OVF damn straight right, I mean that you can the OVF to check focus. Like in the old days. Manually. If not, it's stays what it is: a gimmick. I think too many people compare it to a true rangefinder where its more like a modern Contact G2.

If you look at ISO measurements on dxomark, most cameras are pretty close to 'standard'. Olympus cheats a little bit. Also evidenced by the fact that nearly other camera is compatible with 3rd party studio light meters. I'm a huge Fuji fan, but more than happy to admit that ISO values on the x-t1 are total rubbish.

I was walking around with my x-pro 1 and 23mm 1.4 the other day using the OVF and it occurred to me, there is literally like 4 lenses that don't block the view of the OVF. The 23mm blocks a pretty large patch of the view as well. If Fuji was legitimately serious about releasing a second x-pro, would there not be a road map for more compact lenses? They seem to be trending in the other direction, which makes me think: A) The X-Pro 2 will be EVF only - like a pro X-E body. The X-Pro 2 is still a fair way off. C) Fuji is content with providing a 28mm, a 40mm and 2 50mm equivalents to people that use the OVF, which is predominantly street photographers.

I owned both the x100s and x100t. I loved them and would consider owning again but the battery life was a solid step down compared to the x-pro, sometimes it seems like I got 30 shots.

For me, if the autofocus speed is a decent upgrade, I'd probably buy it and keep both 35mm lenses. The f2 for street and the f1.4 for editorial.

The Fuji fun factor trumps everything else?
benjaminthomson replied to fujiisfun's topic in General Discussion
I've also owned the canon 6d and Sony a7, they both just didn't feel right for me compared to the Fuji x series. I just love having an aperture ring, I started out on film and its just natural to me. Plus o love the colour profiles, when doing a large shoot I have to tinker for ages wih canon or Sony files. With Fuji, its just pick provia and hit export. -
What lenses should Fuji release next?

What sensor is Fuji currently working with? I assume it's based on the Nex6 which certainly was never a flagship to begin with.

" One source reports the Sony A6xxx launch got again(!) delayed til early 2016. The reason seems to be the unexpected huge amount of A7rII preorders that Sony has to fulfill. Capacity has to be used to produce more units. Also because Sony has a higher win margin on those kind of cameras. Plus sensor production is already at 100% so even there they have to limit the production of new camera sensors." http://www.mirrorlessrumors.com I think Fuji will be waiting a while for that new sensor... Surely now they must be thinking about looking for a new source before Sony ff starts taking all their customers.

I tried it for a bit but found it much slower to focus on the x-e1. Might have been in my head though?

Very intrigued to know the sensor size. Is it full frame?

Better glare control is a must. The x100 series isn't great shooting backlit. Also I really wish they'd squeeze in the same battery as the rest of the x series.

Convince me not to dump my X stuff

Are you not romanticising your memory of the contax g2 at all? I used a friends 2 days ago, the viewfinder is a tiny porthole similar to a Nikon d3300, plus the af is fairly glacial by today's standards. The lenses though, that 45mm might be in the top 10 lenses of all time. -

Exactly what I found in real life usage as well. -

2-3 Stops? So you're saying that iso 800 on an em5ii is the same as around iso 1600-3200 on a fuji? I own and use both and can confirm that is not the case. Particularly when you account for how much Fuji bluffs iso numbers. Also Fujis are fantastic in high-contrast light, but in poor lighting, I find the sensor can struggle. I've taken shots at iso 1250 on the x-t1 in low-contrast light that look like ass. I've also taken shots in the studio at iso 4000 on the x-t1 by accidentally bumping the iso knob that look fantastic. The Em5 mkii and Fuji X-t1 are fairly comparable at iso 3200 to my eye. Fuji wins by maybe half a stop at 400 through to 1600. -

I think you're missing the fact that you can hand hold the x-pro1 / x-t1 down to about 1/30th of a second, but you can comfortably shoot the olympus at half a second. How many stops of iso is that saving? -

Also don't believe the bullshit about compressed raw files with the Sony a7 series. Their raw files are totally fine. -

Can I make a bold suggestion? Ditch the fuji and get an Olympus em5 mkii. It'll fix your low light issue because you won't need to ever shoot over iso 800 thanks to the excellent in body stabilization. There's also a huge lens selection. I've owned the canon 6d andthe Sony a7 but sold both. The 6d was cumbersome and had average af. The a7 had great iq but fairly awful controls. I now shoot professionally just with 2 fuji bodies and love the control layout and colours. But I always have an em5 mkii in my backpack at all times for snaps and its a highly capable camera. Love the lenses, love the colours, absolutely love the 4x3 ratio which would complement your Pentax mf nicely.
