Norden reacted to gordonrussell76 in Any news about a FW 4.0 update on the E2?
6 months that makes total sense.
That would be around the time the X-Pro 2 is launched so the X-E2 gets new life and will still fit in with the overall regime whilst not impacting initlal sales of X-T10.
Ie If you want a rangefinder and you can't afford an X-Pro 2 you can get a X-E2 you lose out on 24MP and 4k but a lot of purists won't care. In fact a lot of people might keep an X-E2 as a second body certainly initially in case the X-Pro2 low light performance suffers due to the increased pixel density.
The X-Pro2 sales won't suffer because it will still be latest and greatest.
Fuji will get major PR from review sites and users because they are updating a 2 year old camera, encouraging people considering buying any of their cameras that its a good investment.
They will benefit from people like me content to wait and who will now invest more in glass.
Then they can release X-T2 6-9 months after X-Pro2 with the 24MP, Dual Flagships
The really interesting question is what they will release next after that an X-T20 or an X-E3 I imagine they will review sales figures of both cameras and decide based on that.

you mean the fact that one is instantaneously able to be in a theater or at concert ( a Keith Jarrett’s concert comes to mind) and you are shooting without ANY sound whatsoever doesn’t look like a huge advantage to you?
How about been asked to shoot pictures while an artist is recording and you are in the same room ( that’s when the noise of the lens which includes the focussing or the aperture opening and closing) might be a problem and when the fixed lenses cameras with an electronic shutter have an even bigger advantage!
By the way, stealth also implies to turn off the little ( green or in other cameras red) light which bother artists just as much as hearing “ click” when in absolute silence.
The only “ problem is when the subject moves in the same direction of any shutter ( this is also the same with a mechanical curtain shutter or mechanical focal plane shutter).
The image gets longer if the subject moves the same direction of the shutter and shorter if it moves against it.
Any such shutter works as a sort of fast scanner.
The most famous picture showing something like that is J.H. Lartigue’s car ( new cameras featuring the same problem, give similar effects)

Great shots dv.!
I have the Walimex Pro version of this great lens!!! I really love it! So here are some examples for you to decide if you also want to purchase this lens. Notice there are no distortion or vignetting corrections. I just did some colour editings. Hope you like it.

Norden reacted to papedo in landscapes with fuji x
i do a lot of different photography and really enjoy all of them but my secret love is still landscape photography.
as a former nikon user (still using it sometimes) i wasn´t completely sure about the landscape capabilities of the xtrans sensors. i read a lot about it and wasn´t aware, until a few days ago, that many users don´t like the rendering for landscapes.
anyway i decided to buy a zeiss 12mm and adapt my 100mm filter system to it. and it works fine. let me know your experience for landscape. i´m actually using the x-e2 with xf23, zeiss touit 12mm, 55-200 & 18-55. i´m now considering a x-t1 because of tilt screen and weather sealing...

Norden reacted to paulb in Visiting Fujifilm in Tokyo
I had a very good experience visiting the Fujifilm Square on the ground (first) floor of Fujifilm's head office in Tokyo Midtown. There are a couple of photo exhibitions, which are pleasant, and a lineup of old cameras as well as all the X-series (including the 90mm f2). However, the highlight is the lens and camera rental service. If you return the gear before 6:30 the same day, it is free. Today I took out the 16-55 and 50-140 lenses for the day. All lenses and bodies are available; you just need to show photo ID and a credit card.
I also had a chat with the man at the service desk. He confirmed the old story that the buttons on the early-run X-T1 (which I have) are mushy and useless, and were replaced fairly early on in the production run (and of course in the graphite version). There is no replacement service but if the buttons become completely unresponsive they will swap them out.
I asked if the 90mm will be available for a day's free rental next week. No, all the early copies will be supplied to retail, and it will be a couple more weeks before Fujifilm get any for us to play with.
Hope this helps - a great way to spend an afternoon in Tokyo. Numbers of rental copies may be limited - I got the last 16-55 on a Wednesday afternoon - but the whole range is there.
