Let's hope Best Buy puts on another accidental sale like they did for the 50-140 for $500...

coreyrastetter reacted to Phil in 1st Wedding with X-T1
I definitely agree about the responsiveness. Little things like hitting the playback button to check a shot seems a bit slower on my X-T1. Interestingly, though, I found the AF accuracy to be phenomenal compared to my Canons, and noticed a bit of an issue with the speed (the last wedding I shot with a DSLR was with a D750, and I noticed the 85 1.4G to be similarly slow in lower light, though).
Personally, I find the X-T1 a bit light. For taking out and about with my wife or friends I don't mind it, but I'd still prefer it to be a bit heavier. If I could have my way, I'd like the X-T1 body only to weigh as much as the body + grip do now, and it would be nice if the grip was a bit heavier than it is now. I love the small size (easier to take around every day, less intimidating, etc) but I find it a bit awkwardly light, and find I can hold it steadier with a bit of extra weight.
Here are some from the last wedding I shot. It was almost entirely the 23mm + 35mm. I used the 35mm more than I thought I would. Looking to get the 56 ASAP.

coreyrastetter reacted to Markus Rack Photography in Portraiture work, running topic
Hi Guys,
attachted two portraits both taken with X-T1 and the XF 90mm. The first picture (shot at f2 at 1/750 sec.) is available light only ("golden hour sunset"), the second picture (shot at f8 at 1/180 sec.) was lit with a strobe and a 50cm Beauty Dish.
From my point of view the results one can get from the XF 90mm are supreme. I also own the XF 56mm but most of the time I favor the compression the XF 90mm gets me. Though you have to take into consideration that you need significant more distance to you subject what can be an issue if you are in a tight place or if you are aiming for a more intimate look. In terms of postproduction: Both pictures are RAWs converted with Capture One and retouched (picture1 only color graded) in Photoshop. (SOOC Jpegs, for this kind of work? Not on my page!)
Cheers!
Markus

coreyrastetter reacted to wv64212 in Help me thin my lens collection
I've been pondering about the 'perfect' travel kit as well as of late. For me, I think, it would be something like this:
- 10-24 (or maybe the Fuji 14 in stead)
- 35
- 55-200
- one of Fuji's mid-range zooms
I currently use the XC 16-50 and 50-230 (both terrific value for money), but might switch the 50-230 for a 55-200. It has a faster max aperture, so this could double as a nice portrait lens in stead of the 60 which is a very slow focuser. I would only get the 60 if you're interested in macro. Apart from the zooms I also have the 35 (love everything about it) and the 18 (not sure if I'll keep that one). I used to have the 27 but sold it because f2.8 is too slow in low light. I still miss something on the wide end though. Very much in doubt between the 10-24 and the 14. The range and OIS of the 10-24 are appealing, but the size/weight/faster max aperture of the 14 also seem very interesting. And the 14 has the same filter size as the 16-50 (and 18-55 and 50-230)... And then there's the Samyang 12mm as an outside contender. First world problem really, init?

I have it and love it. Attached to the X-E2 it makes everything very small to carry around and go unnoticed.
As for flare...put that with some fuji colors (velvia this time) you get something like this:
