DKPhoto got a reaction from CRAusmus in X-pro2 launch, keep or sell your x-pro1?
Buying my first Pro 1 reignited my passion for photography.  I'm now emotionally attached to this camera.  No other camera has ever had this affect on me.  Since then I bought the X100T and the XT1.  I normally used a Canon 5D MkIII.  These days the camera I nearly always reach for is the X100T.  I hardly use the XT1.  And I now also hardly use the XPro 1.  But I also recently bought another Pro 1 given the price and bargains out there.  I can see situations where the Pro 1 will be my ideal choice.  Will I keep them, absolutely.  The Pro 1 is an excellent camera.  It is without doubt a classic.  From what I've seen so far there's not enough off a game changer in the Pro 2 to make me buy it.  We shall see.  I may have to wait till the Pro 3 to see enough improvements to make me want to upgrade.

I think that when I sit back and weigh all of the pros and cons of Fuji vs DSLR or another kind of camera, it all comes back to the "fun factor". My X cameras are just so fun to use for both my business and my hobby. The ability to travel light with amazing image quality, great manual focus options (that's right, I said Manual focus), and simple controls are what keeps me grounded with satisfaction. Each time I reach for a dslr, I am reminded on how it can certainly do the job of the fuji perhaps better, it doesn't come near being as enjoyable to use. And when it's all said and done, if you don't enjoy what you do, however perfect or imperfect it may be, then what's the point?

    Whoa! This isn't DPReview.

The OP's needs are relatively specialist and not easily met, by Fuji or any other mirrorless system, IIRC. No camera system is perfect, and no camera system is ideal for everyone, and what the OP describes is beyond Fuji's flash system as it stands. We should be pleading with Fuji to make a flash system that allows people like the OP to stay in the Fuji fold than patronise people who hit the limits of the system.

IMO the worst thing a company can do is listen to its fanboys. It's even worse than listening to the detractors, because at least the detractors give you an indication of what might not be that company's finest hour. The OP raised some valid points about AF (that a few of us have addressed if not entirely resolved) and about flash (which no one can fully address). It's that kind of commentary (and the rational responses) that Fuji should be noting.

DKPhoto got a reaction from Curiojo in Xpro1 still worth buying? (06.15)
When the Pro 1 was first released on offer with the 18/27mm lens combo, I decided to take a look.  Been a long time Canon user, and had played with Olympus (not happy with these).  From the very beginning I just loved the feel and quirkiness of the Pro 1.  More interestingly, and as many before me have commented, it reignited my passion for photography.  I loved using this camera.  Then I bought the T1.  I love that camera too, but the Pro had more soul.  Then a friend let me play with their X100T and I had a dilemma.  Eventually I took the plunge and bought the X100T with the two conversion lenses.  Now my go to camera is the X100T.  I LOVE THIS CAMERA.  I recently went on holiday to Berlin with my son, also a photographer.  He used a T1 and a Pro 1 with prime lenses (35 & 18).  I found I could add a converter lens faster than he could change a lens or swap cameras.  Also the weight factor was a joy, having used Canon for so many years.  My X100T combo is so light.

But where does this leave the Pro1?  Well I just bought a second body.  This camera is a classic already.  I still love using it.  It may have been pipped by the X100T for me, but there are still times when it's the right choice.  The only downside as I see it for buying one now or not, is whether you need a diopter to adjust it.  Some of these are harder to find than pixie dust.  So you might want to bare that in mind.  And as another writer put it, given the trade in value of the Pro 1 I'll be keeping mine for many years to come.  And I've very happy about that.

X-T2, unless the X-Pro2 happened to acquire the T's tilt screen and ISO dial. The Pro's a nicer-looking camera, but I don't care about the OVF—which I never thought I'd say, because I originally resisted using Fuji specifically because I wanted an OVF—and the tilt screen has become too integral to how I shoot. That screen difference is really the defining trait of each body, to me. I only use the EVF for checking image playback in bright sunlight, otherwise I'm using the screen for anything. And to think, I used to buy Canon 1D bodies specifically just for the larger viewfinder!

The other thing is tethered shooting. I can live without it, but I'd much rather have it available as an option. Assuming the X-T2 has better tether support than the X-T1's janky solution, that would be my pick. Again, if the X-Pro2 happened to get the tilt screen, the ISO dial and the tethered shooting support, then I'd go for the Pro.

    It's history repeating itself really.

The X200 will be so close to LEICA that it will sell like hotcakes, win awards which will cause a tsunami of desire for and "X200" with interchangeable lens version, the X-PRO2.

The X-Pro2 will be so awesome with it's FF like character, massive megapixels, beautiful OVF and OVF like EVF that the premium league will want one in their hobby/studio/off site use. Then comes the professionals/adventurers/landscape photographers who will want an "X-Pro2" with superior ruggedness, weather sealing, ev +13 dr and 13fps. Hence, comes the X-T2.

The X-T2 will land on shores, win over hearts from even other brand camps, please all Fujifilm owners to no end refueling the debate between X-Pro2 vs. X-T2 which will cause another debate on X-Pro3 vs. X-T3.

I'll take the X-Pro2........and the show must go on.   :D
