  1. Buying my first Pro 1 reignited my passion for photography. I'm now emotionally attached to this camera. No other camera has ever had this affect on me. Since then I bought the X100T and the XT1. I normally used a Canon 5D MkIII. These days the camera I nearly always reach for is the X100T. I hardly use the XT1. And I now also hardly use the XPro 1. But I also recently bought another Pro 1 given the price and bargains out there. I can see situations where the Pro 1 will be my ideal choice. Will I keep them, absolutely. The Pro 1 is an excellent camera. It is without doubt a classic. From what I've seen so far there's not enough off a game changer in the Pro 2 to make me buy it. We shall see. I may have to wait till the Pro 3 to see enough improvements to make me want to upgrade.
  2. Hi have a T1, a couple of Pro 1's and the X100T with the two extension lenses. I love them all. But it's the X100T I take with me everywhere, and that I reach for just about every time I want a camera. With the extension lenses it's a perfect little combo for travel and just about everything else. The T1 is certainly a better camera, but I find I only use it when I want a focal length I don't have with the X100T, so something other than an 18, 23 or 50mm. The X100T is so easy to use. And it has some great features that I do find I use that are not on the T1 which have already been mentioned like the ND filter and leave shutter. The X100T is completely silent. I also like the rangefinder format, and also rarely use the OVF, the EVF is so good. But most important, and I'm sure what affects my choice so much is that the X100T is simply such great fun to use.
  3. Abjurina - well said. Exactly. I don't think I've ever enjoyed using a camera system as much.
  4. As a Canon shooter I first got into mirrorless with the OM-D E-M5. I wanted something I could have on me all the time, but where I didn't loose the ability to take control that the Canon system gave me. I loved the retro look, the feel and the functionality of the E-M5. But I was never quiet happy with the amount of noise I found in practically any image that wasn't taken in a studio environment. I upgraded to the E-M1. Brilliant functionality, but OMG the noise was just horrible. I sent that one back. My son then suggested I take a look at Fuji. Before Canon I used to shoot Fuji, so was interested. I bought the Pro 1. This is long after the issues with AF, and following a number of upgrades. I loved this camera. Loved the quality and sharpness of the images it produced. Still do. This led me to buying the T1. I love this camera too, but it doesn't have the sole of the Pro 1, and isn't therefore as much fun to use. Though without doubt a better camera. I like a bit of fun when I'm taking pictures. It shouldn't all be about function. It's also about being creative. Then a friend let me play with their X100T. What a camera! Love it, love the pictures, love using it. I have the two extension lenses, and together it is a perfect travel and street setup. This setup in one form or another now goes with me everywhere. As much as I love the other cameras the X100T is the one I always find myself reaching for. So much so I'm having to plan and structure use of my other ones. Never mind my Canon's which are gathering dust for most of the time. I'm rarely disappointed with the camera or the quality of the images it takes. When I get noise, I find it adds rather than irritates, especially when compared to the Olympus system. Mind I shoot a lot in manual, and the way these cameras (including the Olympus for that matter) are setup are perfect. And the limitations on flash are just not there, again because I'm used to doing it manually. And what I like best, is Fuji support their systems. This is noticeable when compared to Sony that seen to release a new version every year or so. I know my investment in Fuji is going to last. That gives me confidence to buy into it.
  5. And I thought I was bad! Not even in your league!
  6. Primes are great no doubt. But if using primes you will also have to consider how you carry them, padding etc. I'd go with the 18-135, it gives maximum flexibility. Also at the moment with the current fuji cash back offer it's £579 with £150 in cash back, so a bargain for only £429. And has 5 stops image stabilisation. A wider focal length would be nice, but in most instances I'd reckon the 18 (27 equivalent) would do.
  7. I have a the T1, Pro 1, X100T and a Canon 5DIII. Like you since I picked up my first Fuji camera, I've not used my 5D. For me my introduction was made with the Pro 1. But now, it's the X100T I always reach for. I love the rest. But the X100T is special. Especially with the 2 conversion lenses. Perfect for being out and about. Be interesting to hear if you switched to using the T1 more over the X100T? Oh and the 35mm lens is lovely.
  8. As a Canon user, I was intrigued by the Olympus OM-D, but didn't like it. Then tried the Pro 1 and it was love at first sight. Loved the feel. Was like old times, gave a new burst of enthusiasm to my photography. But it's not perfect. So I too opted for the T1, and I also love this camera, but for different reasons. Then a friend lent me a X100 T and I knew I had to have one. Now I find I take the X100 T with me everywhere. I find I use this most. I hardly use my Pro 1 now, but I still love it. The T1 just sits there. At the moment I'm trying to encourage myself to use it more, as in theory it is the better camera. But the rangefinder is so much fun. X100 T with a tilt screen would be perfect. So as per the topic, T2 or Pro 2? My preference would be X200 T, but I also don't doubt both a T2 and Pro 2 will make it into my camera bag.
  9. Berlin, Tiergarten looking towards the Soviet War Memorial. Taken with X100T.
  10. When the Pro 1 was first released on offer with the 18/27mm lens combo, I decided to take a look. Been a long time Canon user, and had played with Olympus (not happy with these). From the very beginning I just loved the feel and quirkiness of the Pro 1. More interestingly, and as many before me have commented, it reignited my passion for photography. I loved using this camera. Then I bought the T1. I love that camera too, but the Pro had more soul. Then a friend let me play with their X100T and I had a dilemma. Eventually I took the plunge and bought the X100T with the two conversion lenses. Now my go to camera is the X100T. I LOVE THIS CAMERA. I recently went on holiday to Berlin with my son, also a photographer. He used a T1 and a Pro 1 with prime lenses (35 & 18). I found I could add a converter lens faster than he could change a lens or swap cameras. Also the weight factor was a joy, having used Canon for so many years. My X100T combo is so light. But where does this leave the Pro1? Well I just bought a second body. This camera is a classic already. I still love using it. It may have been pipped by the X100T for me, but there are still times when it's the right choice. The only downside as I see it for buying one now or not, is whether you need a diopter to adjust it. Some of these are harder to find than pixie dust. So you might want to bare that in mind. And as another writer put it, given the trade in value of the Pro 1 I'll be keeping mine for many years to come. And I've very happy about that.
