  1. Hey guys, just thought you should know that there a number of folks on other forums also reporting freezes with the X-T2 as well. There are too many that are reproducible and in too many owners to just be an operational error by an owner. Here's another key point: your camera may not exhibit this issue. Just because yours does not, does not mean that other owners are not experiencing this problem. I work as a Six Sigma quality professional, and I know that 1) there are NO defect-free manufacturing processes, none. All manufacturing processes produce some proportion of defects. Also, proportion is the key word here. Defective products are not an all-or-nothing situation. This is a concept many folks have trouble understanding. In the vast majority of cases, there is a small, but real proportion of products that are defective. So, if you are not seeing this problem, congratulations, you have a good camera, but this does not mean that others are not having problems with a defective camera. I don't know if this is hardware issue or not, but if other folks start posting problems here, I encourage you all to not dismiss these comments as "one-offs" or errors of operation by owners, and to listen openly to what folks are saying. One of the folks I have been corresponding with in another Fuji X forum called Fuji today and they acknowledged they have heard of problems with the cameras freezing up. Here is a link to blog also reporting this with X-T2s: https://www.iamthejeff.com/post/34/fuji-x-t2-firmware-problems#comment435 If you ARE having problems, I encourage you to accurately capture your Camera settings and configuration, the use scenario where the failure mode occurred, and data (e.g .a photograph or video of the failure mode), and most importantly, CONTACT Fujifilm. This won't get fixed if folks don't report it. I am also seeing reports of X-T2s overexposing, and I am seeing some of these issues as well. I plan to do some controlled experiments alongside my X-T1 tomorrow.
  2. The update might not be available yet. Also, apparently no support for tethering and no lens profiles. Will still download and use it, I like how it handles color and skin tones.
  3. I loved the X-Pro2, but also had eye relief issues with it, even without using glasses.
  4. Regardless of how the metering modes are labeled, what we are finding is the X-T2 in Multi mode does not appear to be as accurate, or more descriptively concordant with, the X-T1 using it's older algorithm Multi metering mode. I am going to do some controlled testing on a tripod to compare histograms, etc.
  5. Adam, I am finding essentially the same thing; but to put it a bit differently, I am finding that in "Multi" (what Fuji refers to as "Pattern" in the EXIF file) that my X-T2 will often overexpose by about +1/3 EV. I often find that the Center-Weighted Average metering mode is a more accurate read of the scene than Pattern/Multi. We should bring this up with Fuji, because I think the Multi algorithm is still off a bit, about +0.33 to 0.5 EV). It appears the new Multi-Pattern metering algorithm is "emphasizing" different parts of the scene than the X-T1 did to set exposure settings.
  6. What's really interesting to me is that the body is shorter in height than a X-T2 with battery grip attached. This means it looks to be truly compact, and might actually make for viable, easy to carry and transport MF body...looks like it might be a real winner for studio, portrait and landscape photographers.
  7. The X-T2 is really delivering the goods for me. As I am getting to know the camera, the results I am obtaining are getting better and better. Ryan Hunter-Reay on a very hot qualifying lap....car fully over the berm.
  8. I am going to put up a separate thread devoted to the race weekend, but here are a few more shots from today as a "teaser trailer" (that is, you may see them again). The X-T2 performed even better today than yesterday, I must be developing the technique needed to get the best out of it... 9. I used Setting 3, for subjects accelerating or decelerating through the frame. AF mode was either single-point or zone. Shot with a Vertical Power Booster grip on Boost mode, 11 FPS.
  10. Shooting with my X-T2 at the Indy Car Race at Sonoma Raceway this weekend, my last pro motorsports event of the year. So, far I am very impressed with the X-T2's performance in a tough, real-world environment. Just some quick pics before I have to hike up to Turn 2 for afternoon practice. 11. Is there a problem here? These images are gorgeous...
  12. Reading the manual is the best place to start If you never have used a camera with a shutter speed dial and aperture ring on the lens for the setting basic exposure parameters. If you learned photography on old manual film cameras like many (some?) of us did, it will feel completely intuitive to you.
  13. Have you read the manual? You comments lead me to believe you don't understand how to use the camera. You can't have the Aperture in auto, and the rest in manual, you will have the camera on shutter priority, unless the shutter speed dial on A, then the camera is in Program mode. If the shutther speed is very fast, you won't be able to see it in the EVF, the photo will be underexposed or dark.
  14. I was thinking he looks (and sounds) like a young Steve Buscemi, also! Maybe he could get a role in season 2 of Fargo on Netflix next year! Good review, actually.
  15. Thanks for the input; mine should arrive Tuesday, and I have a pro motorsports event (Indy Car) to cover on the following Saturday.
  16. Thank you. I've had 20+ years of experience doing racing panning shots...I've been an accredited motorsports photographer since 2003.
  17. My panning shots are generally at 1/250th of a second.
  18. Here's some motorcycle road racing images from yesterday. X-T1 with 50-140/2.8 and 1.4X teleconverter. 19. Hendrik, Battery issues aside, these are fantastic images! I saw your work from Rio, and that was outstanding, and this series from the Biathlon is as well. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. On a side note, I am hoping that B&H Photo in the USA will start shipping out X-T2s next week after the embargo lifts and I will receive mine in time for the upcoming Indy Car race I will be covering at Sonoma Raceway in California the week of Sept 17-18th. I pre-ordered mine within minutes of the official X-T2 announcement in July. Regards, Stephen
  20. Fuji made it as small, compact and short as they possibly could given all the requirements they had for the lens. Some of the requirements functional responses conflicted with one another and it's a matter of how to make the optical, size and engineering tradeoffs to get the best of all possible outcomes/designs GIVEN THE REQUIREMENTS. As they had Voice of Customer and competitive benchmarking data for prioritizing the requirements, it's as small and compact as they could have made it. If it was shorter or smaller than it is now, whatever, it would have compromised functionality or quality attributes they or customers were not willing to give up on. As always, each customer has to decide for themselves if it represents a value proposition. I'm confident it will be as successful at the 35/2.
  21. I love this lens, I think it's spectacular. No problems composing with it on my end....
  22. Then there's that magical image quality, especially black and white conversions...
  23. Hendrik, really great photos from Rio. I enjoying see all of them. Your particular look to your images is distinctive and compelling. And the Fuii color really comes through. I've got an X-T2 on preorder here in the USA. I do pro motorsports photojournalism for a motor racetrack in Northern California, and hope to have it in hand in time for the last motor race I will be shooting this year, Indy Car at Sonoma Raceway. I've been using my X-T1 for some of my race action photography, and am looking forward to the increased capabilities of the X-T2. A couple images from last year's race. Cheers, Stephen
