  1. Just downloaded my copy of Luminar on release yesteday. So, far, I really like it. Here are a few images that I have processed with it. Here's the original image; the Grand Tetons from the Snake River overlook. This is an X-T1 image. A "nice" photo, but the light is suboptimal as it is about 9 AM; overall a little flat, though. Same image with Bi-Color Toning with the "blue" (cooling) and "yellow" (warming) filter in Luminar. I applied the toning so that the blue would come down to the base of the mountains, and then used the yellow to add some warmth to the trees and riverbank in the foreground. I also used a filter mask and lightened the sky a little so it would not be so intensely blue. Another Luminar image using the Mild Image Enhancer standard preset. I lightened the saturation of the sky also with an Exposure Filter Mask. A portrait of dancer Shelby Jenkins at Silo City, Buffalo, NY (Urbex workshop I took in September, 2015), X-T1 and 18-55 at f/3.6, 1/60th sec. Here I used the Vignette filter, and reverse selection where I bumped the exposure on Shelby a fraction of an EV. Natural window light illumination. Pigeon Point Lighthouse, south of Half Moon Bay; Mild Image Enhancer at 68% Sunset at Pigeon Point, Foreground Enhancer at approx. 70%
  2. Yeah, I'm not convinced that the X-T2 is cleaner (free from noise) at higher ISOs than the X-T1. I have to do some testing to generate some data and find out between the two cameras. I have a hunch, though, that the overall "noise floor" at a given ISO (above say, ISO1600) is lower on the X-T1. I will say that the noise performance of my X-Pro1 was very, very good up to ISO 1600.
  3. Andy, I am using the Standard color (Provia?) film simulation.
  4. Interesting, because all the folks who handled it at Photokina commented on how light it is. It's all relative though. Might be light compared to a Hassy H-body or Phase One, but heavy compared to an X-T1/2
  5. Really happy with my Think Tank Retro 5, so think I'll stick with that.
  6. Fuji has already stated it will support tethering...
  7. The AF is not slightly faster, it's signficantly faster....particularly particulary AF target acquisition and tracking.
  8. In my experience the X-T2 is much more than a slightly upgraded X-T1. I don't know if you've shot with one in a professional context, but I shot my last pro motorsports race entirely with an X-T2 last month, something I could not have done with my X-T1. Whether that meets your requirements for the significance of an upgrade, that's up to you to determine, horses for courses, as they say. All I can say is my pro Canon gear is going up for sale...
  9. Kim, I'm not sure I am clearly understanding what the problem is; are you saying that AF performance is not up to snuff at smaller apertures? If so, check out my images from the Indy Car race I shot at Sonoma Raceway in the middle of September; most of these were f/11 to f/14 photographing racing cars at very high speeds. I found AF acquistion, lock and tracking to be exemplary. If there are supposedly "problems", I sure didn't see any... http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/3962-x-t2-rips-through-the-indy-car-race-at-sonoma-raceway/
  10. What do you mean by "performance"? 'Cause if it is autofocus performance, I don't agree and have the data to support it.
  11. Thanks for the info. I didn't know that Jackie drove the car, but he was right about how beautiful it was. I remember Chris Amon driving for Ferrari; I saw him drive in Can Am at Laguna when I was a kid. Apparently, all four P4s still exist, even though two of the bodies were converted by Ferrari; one into a 412P and one into the 350 Can Am car. These cars have been converted back to P4 bodies because of their legendary, almost cult, status. If you go back and watch Grand Prix, there is a scene where James Garner visits Ferrari looking for a drive, and if you look carefully, you can see the mechanics actually building 330s.
  12. Great shot, Mike! Looks like '67. Brands? I agree that it's the most beautiful car ever made. And you're correct, this is a 1:18 die-cast model made by GMP....it's very detailed, though. Here's a shot of the engine....
  13. Finally got some time to do some product photography with the X-T2... Shot with two Yongnuo 560III and a Yongnuo 560-TX wireless flash controller, speedlite soft boxes.
  14. The beta version works fine and as far as converting Fuji RAF files, is completely finished, acc. to Brian Griffith, developer of Iridient. I've been using it for weeks now. If you to go Iridient's Twitter page, there is a link to the beta.
  15. Hi Pierre, Do you happen to have a link you could provide? Thank you. -Stephen
  16. Finally going through my Pirelli Challenge GT series images from the Go Pro Grand Prix of Sonoma two weeks back. Here are a few images as a teaser trailer...these are all X-T2 and 100-400. McLaren 650S being chased by a bunch of cars...Porsche, Acura, etc. Famous Flying Lizard Porsche team...based at Sonoma Raceway Big bruiser Bentley
  17. (I also downloaded more than I care to count RAFs from X-T1 to try out in Lightroom and figure out how to work with X-Trans. I also installed X-T1Move for cabled tethering. I may already have a problem...) Does anybody want to trade a really nice D7100 for a 56mm f/1.2? (I'll throw in the vertical grip... ) If you use Iridient Developer as a plug-in for LR, you will not have any issues doing RAF conversion.
  18. I had the 1.4 TC, but didn't need to use it. Both lenses gave me all the reach I needed.
  19. Peter, I've been using SanDisk 32 GB 280 MB/s SD cards with no problems. Interested to hear what you find out. I just read three articles at Thom Hogan discussing problems with the D500 had with Lexar 1000X 32 GB "UHS-II" cards.
  20. Thought you guys would like to see some pit lane shots from the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma from last weekend. Simon Pagenaud Pagenaud holding until pit lane is clear Takuma Sato James Hinchcliffe James "Hinch" Hinchcliffe Scott Dixon Dixon gets a push out of pit lane... Will Power exits pit lane...
  21. I'm thinking this may be due to the use of Lexar cards. MIght be useful to create a poll of folks having freezes and what card mfr they are using. I've heard of a no. of other camera makes having freezes with Lexar cards, including Canon and Panasonic.
  22. Martin, I will look and see what I have. Yes, I really like Newgarden's Fuzzy's livery. I wll see if I have some of those shots, or a panning shot. I shot a mix of shutter priority or manual depending on the lighting conditions. 1/400th -1/500th second for the really fast 3/4 front view closing shots, 1/250th for the panning shots.
  23. Hi Luis, No, no wide open shots. This is a scenario where I need maximal depth of field to get the car as sharp as possible from front to back. These cars are 16 feet long, so I need as much DOF as I can get, especially with these focal lengths. My PR manager wants everything sharp, all the logos, drivers helmet, etc. sharp and clean.
  24. Pete, are you seeing freezes in AF-C shooting many frames at a time (high-speed continuous AF) or also just single shots. Please list how you are using the camera as well in detail. I have one of these exact same Lexar cards as well as a Sandisk and can see if I can reproduce your failure mode. But I need to know exactly how you were using the camera when this occured. Reason I ask is the one of the Canon bodies had a similar issue with Lexar cards as well.
