  1. I do have both. As far as 'bokeh' is concerned, I am not sure if I can discern between the images produced by either. They look almost identical. However, the APD is approximately 2-stop slower in light transmission and has a f1:1.2 and t1:1.7. Below are couple of pictures. The APD lens picture was shot using a non-APD lens, and vice versa. https://flic.kr/p/wxTPCj https://flic.kr/p/wwgqXS
  2. I concur. Sharpness, compression and distortion, all are significantly different among the two. The lenses that I have a hard time differentiating among are the f1.2/56mm and the f1.2/56mm APD (should be called t1.7/56mm, but that is another discussion.) Have both but I may trade-in the APD towards the new f2/90mm.
  3. As I mentioned in the original post, "I was taking pictures with my XF 56mm f/1.2 (non-APD) coupled to an 11mm Fujifilm Macro Extension Adapter on X-Pro1. Camera locked up during focussing and the aperture ring felt sticky. Upon restart the aperture ring stopped clicking. Tried on three other bodies (X-E2, X-T1, and X-T10) same issue, and more than often the camera OS freezes requiring reboot." Spoke to Fujifilm support/repair in New Jersey today. Shipping the lens out today for repair with the 11mm Macro Extension Adapter. They offered to replace both with reconditioned items, but I have opted for repair. Assuming warranty repair. Don't know how long the whole thing will take. Will update.
  4. Thank you for your response. You are correct about the aperture ring. Through external manipulation a tiny metal strip and a ball bearing came out. The ring is not sticky any more; it is moving freely, without any clicks. I am shipping it in the morning to Fuji for repair. A clarification is in order regarding my original post. The XF 18mm f/2 did not have any aperture ring problem; it was only causing my camera to freeze. Cheers.
  5. Something bizarre happened today. I was taking pictures with my XF 56mm f/1.2 (non-APD) coupled to an 11mm Fujifilm Macro Extension Adapter on X-Pro1. Camera locked up during focussing and the aperture ring felt sticky. Upon restart the aperture ring stopped clicking. Tried on three other bodies (X-E2, X-T1, and X-T10) same issue, and more than often the camera OS freezes requiring reboot. It happened to my Xf 18mm f/2 once while using it on an X-E2 body. I had the same 11mm Macro Extension Adapter coupled. At the time the lens was still within dealer's return period and was exchanged by the store. BTW, I do use both (11mm and 16mm) Macro Extension Adapters quite frequently. Any of you guys ever had this happen? Is there anything I can do to fix my lens or do should I send it in for warranty repair? Cheers!
  6. Thanks for replicating. You are correct, it does stay on longer. Not sure if the battery's state-of-charge (SOC) had anything to do with it. The battery I was using yesterday had 33% charge left. I agree that it may be a firmware fault. Must be impacting the battery. Also, I asked a friend who has not upgraded his X-T1; still on v3. He reports that light turns off upon shutdown. Cheers.
  7. Yes. I noticed it last night, but dismissed it. The fact is that I had never noticed it before the upgrade. This is what I am observing now: It comes on with either "High Performance" set to 'On' or 'Off.' It turns off with Power Switch in 'Off" when "High Performance" is turned 'Off.' It also comes on with the EVF turned 'Off." It stays on for approximately 15-20 seconds but their is no fixed pattern. You can turn the light off earlier by popping the battery out. With "Sensor Cleaning" turned off, it only stays on for about 1 to 3 seconds. Based on limited observations, I conjure that it is somehow being affected by the sensor rather than EVF/LCD. Cheers! 8. I have both (Black and Graphite) versions of the X-T1 and here is my experience: I upgraded the Black first; it was in "Silent Mode." Restart after the upgrade froze. I pulled the battery out for a bit and restarted; I noticed that the yellow "Silent Mode" symbol was stuck on the screen. Not sure why I could not turn the feature off in FW4.0; factory resetting fixed the problem. For the Graphite, I did a factory reset before running the upgrade and everything ran smoothly. So far, loving the new firmware. Have only tested a few lenses. Anecdotally, I am finding that metering has improved a bit. I shoot JPEGS (ProNeg-Hi) and prior to FW4.0, I usually compensated between -2/3 and -1 for portraits. Now I am getting quite accurate exposures and if it all I am compensating -1/3. Cheers!
  9. I pre-ordered I pre-ordered mine with the camera. Kenmore Camera in Kenmore (Seattle suburb) have them available. You can order it online, if you are not local. Have fun shooting.
  10. Nice. It is actually a pretty decent camera. Got mine on the 18th. By the way, the metal grip is a necessity.
  11. Hello everyone, Though I have been following the FR posts on Facebook for some time now, I finally decided to join your little group. My name is Omer Terrason and I have been doing photography for about four decades now. I am a former flight medic and a law enforcement officer. After retiring from the 'job,' I went back to school for Graduate studies in policy and public law. Primarily, I photograph my family, friends, and subjects that interest me. I often use photography to aid my policy work. Film cameras that I have owned are: a Brownie, a Yashica TLR, Contax RTS II + Zeiss 1.4/50, and the Olympus OM system (OM 2SP, OM 4Ti.) I still do some film photography with the Olympus OM system. I am a big photography buff and a collector of photo gear. Over the last ten years, I have acquired and shot with Canon, Olympus, Sony, Lumix, and Pentax. Now I use Fuji X-system, Nikon, and Leica equipment. Cheers.
  12. I wanted to do that too, but decided to keep both. I think perspective distortion is better controlled in the 14mm f/2.8 when shooting architecture; 16mm f/1.4 is better with organic subjects. BTW, nice pictures.
  13. Hello everyone, New to this forum, but been following the FR posts on Facebook for a long time. I am a big photography buff. I am not a professional photographer; but an academic and a policy analyst who uses photography to aid in my work. I have a huge library of bodies and optics, mostly in retro styling. I know for some of the folks it may sound like GAS or too much money to throw around. Well, both are correct; now couple that with a little bit craziness...and Bob's your uncle. I have Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Lumix, and Leica gear, but we are primarily a Fuji household. I kinda work with a three lenses per body strategy. Following is my current Fuji gear coupled with lenses. I only use specific bodies with those specific lenses, very rarely do I deviate from this rule. I shoot JPEGs only and I have defined two custom shooting formulas (profiles) to each lens, one color and one black & white. There are some pictures of the gear on my 500px (www.500px.com/oterrason) and Flickr (www.flickr.com/oterrason) photo galleries. X-Pro1 - 18mm f/2 - 35mm f/1.4 - 60mm f/2.4 Macro X-E2 (Black) - 10-24mm f/4 - 18-55mm f/2.8-4 - 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 X-T1 (Graphite) - 14mm f/2.8 - 23mm f/1.4 - 56mm f/1.2 (Non-APD) X-T1 (Black) - 16mm f/1.4 - 16-55mm f/2.8 - 50-140mm f/2.8 X-T10 (Black) - Touit 12mm f/2.8 - Touit 32mm f/1.8 - Touit 50mm f/2.8 Macro Still in the household, my daughter shoots with: X100T (silver) - Wide Angle and Telephoto attachments X-E2 (Silver) - 27mm f/2.8 - Jackar 'Snapshooter' 34mm f/1.8 - Lensbaby Velvet 56mm f/1.7 I have the 90mm f/2 on order, and shall be buying the 35mm f/2 and the 120mm f/2.8 Macro when they are released. I'd like Fujifilm to develop 23mm f/1.4 and 56mm f/1.2 lenses with weather resistance. I think it will also be a very cool if Zeiss comes out with its X-mount trio in weatherized versions. Omer...
