  1.

    Optical viewfinder...are they really necessary?

Just my point of view :

    Necessary? No.

    Useful? Yes.

I bought my X-Pro in 2012 because I wanted both the optical and the electronic viewfinder. Today I just love the EVF and I have to admit I use it 99% of the time.

But once in a while I'm very glad to still have an OVF, specially when it comes to improve the battery life of my X-Pro: when an full EVF body will just die (X-E, X-T, etc), the X-Pro or X100 will save you a few more shots. Very helpful sometimes.

Also in some situations (like street photography), the OVF allows you to anticipate your shot as you can see what is happening outside of the frame in the viewfinder. So yes there is a parallax error, but if you know your lens it won't a big issue anymore.

    :)

  2. How do you find shooting street photography where you live? I don't find Vancouver interesting enough to do much street photography but I love doing it when I visit other cities.

Well, I simply try to have a "tourist" outlook on the streets. Just as if I was visiting a new place, but focusing mainly on people.

    hello,
I love my 23mm but the new 16mm look good , shortest focus distance , WR ,same aperture.

Do you think i can leave my 23mm

and you what do you do ?

It's all up to your own... eye. It's like cooking: some prefer more salty.

Personally, I started to shoot street photography with the 18mm. A bit too wide for me... Then I bought the 35mm: too narrow. Then Fuji released the 23mm, it's now always mounted on my X-Pro: street, portrait, it is to me the most versatile Fuji lense (and really good quality too).

  4. Hi there,

Brand newbie on the forum, my name is Antoine. Originally from France but based in Toronto since 2007 (so please excuse my French accent in advance, haha).

What else... I've been shooting since a few decades. I started with black and white film photography (ex-Minolta) and I had my first Fuji in 2012: X-Pro1 with a few lenses. Just LOVE it (can't wait for the X-Pro2 now). My work is mostly focused on street and travel photography.

Looking forward to meeting you in the forum!

    Cheers,

    Antoine ;)
