menphrad got a reaction from algrove in Why does this camera have a top display?!?!
My previous Nikon D600 had a LCD on top - as most other DSLRs do. I don't miss it on my X-Pro2, but still it was kind of helpful on the D600 and would be helpful on the X-Pro2 especially when shooting with the screen switched off and only use EVF. You have all the information you need on a tiny screen.

So I just called Fuji UK again today, quoting part number BB24156-100 and they still do not have this part available. They've kindly offered to send me one in the post if they can procure one from returns, etc. However I have suggested that this issue be raised with corporate or something, as there is clearly a problem with getting hold of these and I'm sure I will not be the last one to lose one of these.

menphrad reacted to Sator-Photography in What does GFX 50s mean?
Fuji said that the "G" represents a continuation of the traditional nomenclature of Fuji medium format cameras e.g. GX680III, GX645AF.  There was also an "X" in there too. Their medium format rangefinders had a GF nomenclature e.g. GF670. So if you continue that nomenclature and add in the fact that the digital X series has XF lenses, then it seems logical to call the medium format version "GFX".

Historically, Fuji use the term "S" inconsistently. Here, it might even mean "Studio", as it does in Canon terminology.

I'm not sure why everyone is confusing the sync cover with the hotshoe cover. They're completely different things, and menphrad makes it completely clear what he is referring to:

I kept losing the little round sync cover on my X-T1.  I finally got fed up with replacing the darn thing and took a little bit of Sugaru (I think it's called) and filled the darn thing in.  No more problems.

As far as keeping a cover on the flash hotshoe I bough literally a bag of like 15 small, rubber, tight fitting levels and slip these into my hotshoe on the X-T1. I think the bag of levels cost me under $9.00US.  They are cheap, and fit very snugly so I know zero moisture will get in there.

But oh that darn sync cover...  Sealed that puppy right up as it's something I will never use.   I'm sure some of you are wondering: What about when you go to sell the camera?  Um.  I pretty much use up cameras to the point they become paperweights.  So once I'm finished with the bodies, they go into a glass display case I have at one of my homes and they stay locked up in there. No one will want to buy my used crap -- even though I do keep my gear in excellent mechanical working order the outside looks like sh*t.

Menphrad, if you mean the hot shoe cover then purchase a replacement for Fuji, I also don't think its loss will affect the cameras WR, but don't forget it is NOT a waterproof camera!

I wouldn't worry about it.  Most likely you'll move on to another body long before you need a new shutter mechanism

Wow. I'm new to this forum, but I'm on a few other hobby related ones. I'm always amazed by people's negativity. Photography is an art, and the camera is the tool. If someone chooses to personalize their tool and share it, let them. If you don't care for it, then keep your snippy little comments to yourself.

If you don't have anything nice to say, than don't say it all. Something we all should have learned in kindergarten.

I don’t see how it could affect the weather resistance since there is nothing (in the manner of a seal) to prevent humidity to penetrate under the hot shoe cover.
