  1. I downloaded it and I'm actually reading it while waiting to get my X-Pro2 on Thursday.
  2. If you'll be ok with the rangefinder style camera, then I think you would get excellent results shooting portraits with the X-Pro1. It won't be as quick to operate as the X-T1, but it's not a dinosaur either. Check out the work people have done with the X-Pro1 online and see if the results appeal to you. Personally, I prefer the X-Pro1 over the X-T1 (in fact, I sold my X-T1 to fund the X-Pro2).
  3. I found this at the camera store today. If anyone is interested, the part number on the back is KLPM-FX70.
  4. Not over, in addition to. I'll be keeping the X100, X100T and X-Pro1, and am waiting for the X-Pro2. You can never have too many Fuji's! What I like about the X70 is the smaller size and the tilting touch screen. I'm looking forward to trying out that screen for shooting from the waist.
  5. I've only had time to set up the menus and take a couple quick shots of my room so far. I'll spend time with it over the weekend and hopefully have some comments next week. So far, I really like it.
  6. I just got back from picking up my X70. They told me at the store that they just got notification from Fuji today that the X-Pro2 will be available on March 3. Can't wait to get mine!
  7. Kevin Mullins says he has received the final production firmware for the X-Pro2, so it seems whatever the bug was they needed to fix, they have fixed it. I assume that means that all of the cameras that were already made, boxed up and packaged for shipping are now going to have to be opened back up and updated before they are boxed up again, repackaged and shipped out. I hope they are working overtime to get that done so we don't have to wait too much longer to get our cameras.
  8. Thanks for doing that. I couldn't figure out how to do it.
  9. A recent thread on the change Fuji made to the way menus display depending on the display mode you're in caught my interest primarily because I never realized before that some people apparently make frequent access to menus in the middle of shooting. This seemed strange to me because when I bought my camera I went through the menus to set it up the way I wanted, and after that the only changes I ever make are shutter speed and aperture. So except for formatting cards, after the camera is set up I rarely ever see the menus again. In other words, I'm pretty much shooting like I would if I was shooting film. Load it and go. So this got me wondering how other people use their cameras. Since the forum doesn't seem to allow for polls, this one is informal. Which of the following shooting styles most closely resembles the way you shoot. 1. VF only / frequently access menus 2. VF only / rarely (or never) access menus 3. Eye Sensor / frequently access menus 4. Eye Sensor / rarely (or never) access menus 5. LCD / frequently access menus 6. LCD / rarely (or never) access menus 7. Something else I didn't think of If you're someone who frequently dives into the menus in the middle of shooting, I'd be interested in knowing what kind of changes you make on-the-fly. Incidentally, this is not intended to incite a riot, I'm just honestly curious about how other people shoot. And hopefully I'll learn something as a result.
  10. It looks really good on the iPad Pro!
  11. The correct number is: one more than you have now!
  12. The Japanese stores are still saying the first half of March. On the plus side, for what it's worth, my dealer called to say that because of the delay they are giving everyone who preordered a free battery. Small consolation, but I'll take it.
  13. I have to agree with that. I hate waiting, and now waiting even longer, but I'd rather have it right than have it soon. Here's hoping it won't be delayed more than a few weeks.
  14. Supposed to be the 18th here, but I hope it's not delayed too.
  15. The February 18 release date for the X-Pro2 has been pushed back to sometime in the beginning of March. Very disappointing. I hope the X70 still comes out as planned. At least that would keep me entertained until the X-Pro2 finally comes out.
  16. Thanks Paul, now I'm beginning to see your point. Fortunately for me I never use any of those things, but for people like you who do, the change in operation is definitely a change for the worse. You have to wonder why they even bothered to change it. For you, the new joy stick on the X-Pro2 would probably be a nice addition, but considering that the X-Pro2 menus function like the X100T, I assume you won't be upgrading. Anyway, thanks for the clarification. Enjoy your new "S"! ;-)
  17. That certainly makes sense. But again may I ask what kind of changes you make that require the menus? You have me worried that I may be missing out on something by not getting more use out of the menus. I very much enjoy your photography and would genuinely like to know more about your approach to street shooting. Thanks.
  18. I think I see the reason for the change, if I can explain it. I shoot a lot in dark night clubs so I use VF only mode so the LCD is not distracting to other people in the club. With the X100 if I'm in VF only mode and using the OVF, if I press the menu button, the LCD lights up and becomes a distraction. The only way I can avoid that is to switch to EVF mode before pressing the menu button, in which case the menu pops up in the VF instead of on the LCD. No distractions. With the X100T I can be in VF only mode and using the OVF and if I press the menu button, the menus pop up in the VF, where I want them because I don't want the LCD lighting up. So in my case, I don't want the LCD lighting up when I press the menu button, so for me, the X100T is an improvement. Does that make sense? FWIW, I never use the menus when I'm shooting, so it's kind of a moot point for me.
  19. I just tried this on my X100 and X100T and they do indeed function as Paul describes. I think the reason I never noticed this before is that once I set my camera up the way I want it, I tend to shoot it very much like a film camera and the only things I ever change are shutter speed and aperture. So now I'm curious as to what changes you need to make when shooting that require the use of the menus. Offhand the only time I can think of when I use the menus, other than the initial setup, is when formatting a card. Am I missing something here? What kinds of changes are you making that require the menus? Could I get more/better use out of my camera by diving into the menus more often?
  20. The obvious question, besides "Where did you get it?" is about the AF. How quick is it, and how good is it at focusing on what you want it to focus on. When I'm shooting on the street the X-Pro1 will sometimes focus on the background instead of what I want it to focus on. I guess I'd like to know how well the face and eye detect works on the X-Pro2.
  21. Lots of excellent advice here. FWIW, I just got rid of my X-T1 and bought an X-Pro1. It seems to suit me much better. Good luck with your new camera. I hope you love it as much as I (we) do.
  22. Thanks a lot for doing that and making the results available. I have been wanting to test those settings myself but was just too lazy. Your efforts are very much appreciated.
  23. In spite of the upcoming X-Pro2, I just recently bought a brand new X-Pro1 and will continue to use it even after I get the X-Pro2. It's still a great camera.
  24. I've been using Fuji X cameras since the original X100, and I still own and shoot the X100 and X100T. I also just recently bought a new X-Pro1 (my second one, the first one got traded a long time ago), and I'm loving it. After the new cameras were officially announced, I got rid of my X-T1 and preordered both the X-Pro2 and the X70. But even so, I still intend to keep and continue using the older cameras, the X100 and X-Pro1 in particular. Those cameras to me are true classics.
