  1. Hi, Andreas here, live from Tokyo! Press conference is about to start in 2 hours (1.30 pm local Tokyo time). Will try to report live with all information from Fuji – IF there is something to come Andreas
  2. Love them, especially the first one! Andreas
  3. Welcome to the forum! Andreas
  4. Overlapping or duplicate content is a a problem - but I'm not sure if it is a big one... We are not going to do is to comb through all existing content to fix it now. Two reasons: Too much time need (which we do not have) and in my experience members hate if „their“ content is touched or moved or deleted. For future threads you can help us: Please send us a short notice or use the report link under all posts and tell us if something's not in the right place. Regarding threads with only one image: Completely OK in my eyes. In most of the communities I'm moderating this is the default. And threads with image contributions are the exception. HTH Andreas
  5. Two different topics in my eyes. Acronyms make sense if they are widely understood, excessive use doesnt help and excludes not-so-experienced - uhm - acronyms users. Regarding Rico's point: Google search is now default option in our search field. Finds even an X-T1 Andreas
  6. Thanks for the explanation! Still learning new stuff... These issues don't apply here: No changefreq parameter given, same priority for all forums, htaccess very short and manually crafted by me Andreas
  7. Banning IP addresses may cause collateral damage. Spammers don't use single dedicated addresses but come from big IP pools belonging to access providers. If we ban these adresses or bigger ranges chances are that I ban innocent members. And the spammers jump to the next address... In this case we had about 20 spam acccounts with 20 different IP addresses coming from 5 different access providers. Sorry? You are right - and thanks a lot for taking care. If you refer to me: When I explain what happened and what measures we take this is not meant as criticism. And the discussion (and my 12 year forum admin experience) show that it's always a balancing act... Andreas
  8. Right now a bigger spammer campaign is running - I had attacks (or call it better floods) in 3 of my 5 communities over the last 24 hours. And I saw it in some other communities too. Andreas
  9. For the time being we control all new registrations. Still some spammers getting through the first line of defense... Andreas
  10. I agree that this may help against some dumber spammers. But in this case this was a well distributed and Turing-tested human driven attack. Access came from a wide range of IP addresses with a wide variety of email addresses. I'll disable registration for tonight and will implement more measures tomorrow. Andreas
  11. Thanks Trenton, will do so for tonight (#1). #3 is a little bit to difficult for some of us Andreas
  12. Sorry. No, message accepted, fully understood and accepted that such an attack leaves bad taste. My priorities right now: #1 Fight spammers (just deleted another one) #2 Take measures to keep them out more reliably (will happen today - sunny Sunday outside, sigh...) #3 Explain to users what's happening. Andreas
  13. You can compare it to a bank. Yes, the door is open. But only the front door to leave in our customers. Nasty guys like spammers mix with the customers and are not always easy to identify. They get into the customer area (=forum) and start spreading their spam. The vault of a bank (= our databases) is a completely different issue: By definition not meant to open to the public and so much easier to protect. Andreas
  14. First of all: I understand your concerns and I see it as my duty to explain - hoping this can help to trust the forum. There is a fundamental difference between the registration and posting process and the access to the user data: The registration to the forum MUST be open - we want new members and we welcome everyone. Spammers use this open door and start pestering us after they got in. Of course we take measures to keep such people out but this is eternal game of Hare and Tortoise (in German it's Hase und Igel). We manage to keep 99% out but when 1% get through they use this gap until we close it. Your personal data is a completely different thing: These are not meant to be open (like the registration process) thus they are much more save. Andreas PS.: We are not alone with this problem... http://www.fujix-forum.com
  15. All spammer and their posts should be deleted now, we have still some entries in the cache for the news feed - but these should be gone in a few minutes. Of course we are running measures against spammers but my first ToDo on Monday will be to check if all systems are up-to-date. Andreas
  16. Hi, good question - and we have a good answer Here is a guide how to start a thread and how to post images: http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/338-how-to-start-a-thread-and-how-to-post-images/ You can upload directly to the forum server. Max. file size is 1000 kB per post. Max. dimensions are 1280 px x 1600 px. HTH Andreas
  17. Should work now! If not, please empty your cache. Best regards Andreas
  18. This is one of the few privileges of the admin Please send me a PM, I'll do that for you. Andreas
  19. Do you own a smartphone (iOS or Android)? Then take a look at Triggertrap: http://shop.triggertrap.com Not only a intervalometer but much, much more... For Fuji X-E2 (same as Canon etc.) http://shop.triggertrap.com/collections/triggertrap-mobile-kits/products/triggertrap-mobile-kit-md3-e3-for-canon-samsung-hasselblad Andreas
  20. The UV-part of the press release is IMHO rubbish. UV radiation has a wavelength shorter than 380nm - 380-1000 nm is visible light plus IR but no UV. Andreas
  21. As far as I understand the press release the camera sensor has an extended IR sensitivity of 380 to 1000 nm. With an appropriate filter you can either shoot IR only (cutting off everything below 700 nm) or „normal“ mode with an IR filter (in the sense of filtering out IR wavelengths). But this is only theory... Andreas
  22. Detlef, can you check the pixel dimensions? Should not exceed 1200 x 1600 px - otherwise the software scales down the image (and ruins the image quality) HTH Andreas
  23. It doesn’t work, no AF-improvement, it doesn’t focus between each shot in CL or CH, no faster AF in low light! This is some of the negative feedback we could read in the comments on FR and at the Fuji-X-Forum here. So what… is Firmware 4 just crap? Well, sometimes (often?) it’s just a matter to find the right settings. Patrick has made up an extended list of tipps: Enable Mechanical Shutter (MS) only. The camera won’t focus between each shot in CL or CH tracking, if ES only (electronic shutter) or MS+ES is enabled. Shooting fast-moving subjects with the ES doesn’t really make sense (rolling shutter effect). Turn Off Face Detection! If you have Face Detection put to ON, the camera will focus only with CDAF. The faster Phase Detection AF (PDAF) works only if Face Detection is disabled. High Performance Mode ON: many don’t even know that this features exists, like Calipedro here. It’s definitely worth to sacrifice a bit of battery life. Fuji should put this feature ON as standard. Keep you subject in the center: Phase detection pixels are located in the center of the sensor. Keep your subject in the center and PDAF will give you a faster AF. Use all Phase Detection Pixels with Zone AF 5×3: To take advantage of all the phase detection pixels, set you Zone AF box to 5×3 and place it in the center of the frame. Within this 5×3 box tracking will be very smooth… at least that’s my experience with my crazy dog. Increase the size of the AF-box: If you use Single Point AF, increase the size of the AF-box as much as possible. PRE-AF: The camera will continuously adjust focus, even if the shutter is not pressed (of half pressed). This can help to get the first shot in focus quicker. Downside: more battery drain. LENS FIRMWARE: make sure that your Fujinon lens is updated to the latest firmware version. Different Lens, Different results: According to the lens you use, the AF-improvement will be more or less (or not) visible. For example, I was very happy with the improvement of my 55-200, but I can’t really say if the 18-55 or 14 has become faster. The learning curve: Practice and get used to the new features. See what works best in which situation Let Rico study for you. Rumors has it, that Rico will update his X-T1 book and tell us how to make the best out of our new Fuji X-T1 FW 4. Once it’s out, all we have to do is to read his updated book. So, do you have more tips? Then share them below!
  24. B&H has the Fujifilm X-T10 in stock ($1099.95)! » Order Fujifilm X-T10 at B&H
  25. No problem, I'm sure you wanted the best for the community - thanks for that! Sorry if I'm a little bit paranoid, but I'd like to avoid a shitstorm „Fuji X Forum spreads virus“ Andreas
