X-E3 focusing and 27mm lens

Hi

I’ve recently got the above camera and lens  Which looks great. I’m in the process of learning the settings extra but have noticed that it sounds like the lens is hunting focus . The switch is on s at the front not continuous so not sure why it’s doing it . When I Hal press the shutter it snaps into focus fine . Any ideas is this normal or is there a setting to keep it quite until I want it to focus.
