A niggle though:

 

In fact, we are commonly talking about "rectilinear" fisheyes, which are most common, although spherical fisheyes also exist.

A rectilinear fisheye is an oxymoron. You are probably referring to a diagonal fisheye.

Thank you! Yes, this is why I put it into quotes; it's a convention like "full frame fisheye"

I am not familiar with that particular convention and apparently, neither is Google.

 

Rectilinear implies straight lines of which a fisheye delivers decidedly few.
