  1. Browsing in ebay, I came along this grip/L-plate: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152145854497?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Mb.kinsman is this the same brand you purchased? Because, from the photos, this seems to fit the X-Pro2 perfectly; should it be a different or updated design?
  2. Thank you for the feedbacck!! Just yesterday I was checking out an ebay listing for this grip and needed more info.
  3. I have reviewed this lens here: http://www.eyesuncloudedphoto.com/blog/2015/11/19/samyang-100mm-ed-umc-f28-macro In fact, it was a Canon version, so I could adapt it to both the Fuji-X and m43 systems, but the optics and all operating parameters are the exact same (the rear part of the lens is just longer, for shorter flange distance systems, and this is true for all Samyangs). I was pleased but not extremely impressed with the lens, at least in comparison to the excellent 135mm. That said, I agree it would be a good addition to a Fuji shooter's bag, as long as it covers certain requirements.
  4. Samyang announced a duo of lenses, their first with AF, for the Sony FE system. As it's traditional with them, other systems will most probably follow, and they are going to offer more lens options from their line in the future. Which Samyang lenses would you like to see as native options for the X-System, if this plan goes forward? My preferences would be for the 135mm f/2 and possibly the 85mm f/1.4.
  5. Thank you! It would be great if more users would contribute with their own real life use reports, both in these threads and in the comment section on the blog. I'm sure Fuji is watching such reactions and it would possibly help solve problems faster.
  6. Here is my real-life review on the warming issue. All comments highly appreciated: http://www.eyesuncloudedphoto.com/blog/2016/4/28/my-big-fat-x-pro2-heat-issue-report
  7. Yes, you may be on something there. This is my report on the "warming" issue I just published on my blog. Would appreciate any comments from all members on this: http://www.eyesuncloudedphoto.com/blog/2016/4/28/my-big-fat-x-pro2-heat-issue-report
  8. Don't get me wrong; I love what Sigma is doing for the last few years. But I don't feel the 1.8 zooms are actually "prime replacements" and this is how all of the people I know, who have the 18-35 on Canonikons think too. They will never be as sharp or have an equally great rendering as 1.4 or 1.8 primes in the same range and there are some optical faults at certain focal lengths. That said, I believe these are great lenses for video. In fact, many people adapt them, through Speedboosters, in other systems, such as m43.
  9. Personally I'd welcome such a decision. A ultra sharp, f/2.5-2.8 macro at this equiv. focal length, would be great for close up portraits too.
  10. Mirrorless, contrary to popular belief, is not about reduced size/weight only. If rumors are valid, the X-T2 will have to go up against cameras such as the D500 (or, at least, the 7Dmk2); namely "sports/action oriented" DSLRs. Even being larger than the X-T1 (dual card slot, need for better cooling, larger grip), it will, nevertheless, be significantly smaller/lighter overall than these systems. Perhaps a X-E2/X-T1 format camera is better for your needs, although I'm guessing the X-T2, with the appropriate lens selection wouldn't be far off either.
  11. The "video-type" screen, is, in fact, the best possible solution overall, since it allows viewing at any angle AND can be rotated 180 degrees to protect the screen (and offer a clean look and more "pure photographic" experience, if desired).
  12. With the X-Pro2, they kept it under wraps (VERY succesfully, I'll add) until the last second. For the X-T2, I'd speculate: 1) Announcement, probably with some product photos and specs, in late June 2) Get it in the hands of X-Photographers covering the Olympics; since this is supposed to be a sports as well as video oriented camera 3) Presentation of final product and availability announcement in Photokina 4) In stores 3-4 weeks later This will help to build up expectations in the public and give them enough time to iron-out possible bugs.
  13. Actually, Photokina 2016. But actual release to the dealers will probably be near the Christmas season.
  14. I'm noticing that reports of the reset issue have been practically eliminated with the firmware update, so I'm moving it to the "solved" category. Feedback from my national Fuji dealer is that the turn-on/off issue should be handled by the FU too, but there may be a connection to production batches, can't be 100% certain yet. Since I have my own X-Pro2 now, I'm going to be carefully evaluating for reported bugs. My very limited experience (only had it for a couple of days) is this: I used the camera for one full evening of shooting moving as well as subjects, coupled with the 50-140mm f/2.8. In many cases I used continuous wide tracking mode with high speed burst. Although the weather was quite warm, I noticed no significant temperature increase; no more than with the X-E2/X-T1 or, in fact, any other mirrorless camera I've used. Will continue to report on this and other issues.
  15. Sorry, I don't get your reference, probably because I'm not American
  16. I have done this a lot of times with the latest Panasonic cameras. For example, you can get a short 4K clip of an action subject (I have tried it with motorbikes) and -effectively- have a sequence of X pictures, each about 8Mp. You can then choose which ones you prefer. The same feature can be used for focus stacking, with the latest firmware, at least with the GX8 that I tested it with. All that is to say that 4K has a number of photographic applications too. Of course, 4K is extremely practical if you need to correct some camera shake in post, and 4K footage ALWAYS look better than native 1080p when downsized. For a camera suitable for photojournalists (as the X-T2 will probably be) lack of -at least- competitive quality video, will be marketing suicide. Day by day, more photojournalists demand some degree of modern video capabilities.
  17. Yes! YES! Well said mate! Let me ask all the "purists": are you satisfied with Fuji's market share right now? Will you pay $2500-3000 for the (equivalent) X-T2 in three years time? Because that's how much Fuji will have to price it to make a profit, if they don't expand their customer base. If you don't want a feature, please don't use it. It can't get any simpler than that. And please don't say that extra features add on cost; the X-Pro2 is a clear indication: it could have 4K (albeit of limited functionality) but they chose not to include it, to not disturb the "loyal fans". Newsflash: you don't expand your market by cattering to the needs of "loyal fans". You try to win over more. As it is, I'll be forced to buy an additional different brand camera just to cover my (limited for now, but expanding) video needs. I should be more than happy to just use the X-Pro2 for video and only have one system to deal with. If the X-T2 doesn't drastically expand on video features, it's a non-starter for me.
  18. I have updated the OP since there are more confirmations of the "turn off/turn on" issue. Every report I've seen so far speaks of a hardware cause. All people that have updated to the latest firmware, please confirm that the reset feature has been solved, so we can move it to the "fixed" section. Also please check if other "minor" issues such as occassional overheating have been solved or decreased. Thanks all!
  19. Honestly, I don't think so. The X-E series is solidly differentiated from the X-Pro line. If you just see both as "rangefinder style cameras", the added cost of the X-Pro can be easily justified by the OVF (which, as I understand it adds a very considerable cost to the camera), WR and a couple of more "pro" features such as the dual card slot. An X-E3 with everything new the X-Pro2 has (sensor, processor, etc) could easily cost $500 less than the X-Pro2 and would find its own audience. Are they interchangeable? I guess for many people, yes, but there are also many who would gladly pay the premium for the X-Pro2. Same is true for the X-T line, with the X-T2 differentiating from the X-T20 (or whatever it'll be called) the same way. It makes much sense for Fuji to follow this concept: not only they have two distinct lines for each "format", at different price points, but also can provide an added option for "second/backup camera" to the high-end buyers (although pros will opt for a second identical body).
  20. In these conditions there is no excuse: I do it all the time in concerts, both the X-T1 and X-E2 have no issues. Mind you, I'm talking often high environmental temperatures, since I live in Greece and in summer it gets quite hot.
  21. This is indeed not a serious answer, but let me ask you guys with this problem: does overheating cause errors in operation or camera freeze? What levels of overheating are we talking about? One member mentioned high enough temperature that it was uncomfortable holding the camera.
  22. Actually, I have tested the Samyang, you can read the review here: http://www.eyesuncloudedphoto.com/blog/2015/11/19/samyang-100mm-ed-umc-f28-macro It is actually a combined m43/Fuji review (since I used the lens with both systems) but you can get an idea. Also photo samples are marked for camera used. In a nutshell, my conclusion is that, although it's, objectively speaking, a fine lens, you can possibly find equally good or better options if you look around. If I was heavily into macro I'd consider a number of older manual lenses, at less than half the cost of the Samyang. Another option, if 1:1 reproduction is desired, is using "smart" (AF-enabled) macro extension rings with regular Fuji lenses. I have seen an application of the 90mm with Fuji extention rings somewhere, which left me speechless.
  23. Judging from the photo, yours was one of "a couple of reports" I saw (in FB, I think). Thank you for the feedback!
  24. According to a couple of reports, the "turn off then back on" issue was not addressed with the firmware update. Users having installed the firmware, please report on this, as well as other issues. It would also be important to note if the unsolved issues are related to other probable parameters, e.g. aftermarket batteries, memory cards, use conditions etc.
  25. For people upgrading to the latest firmware, please start adding your feedback concerning bugs fixed.
