Hi !

I just began with a XT2 after a long time using Nikon DSLR's, and I upload my first pictures : the files prefix is DSCF2030, DSCF2031...

Does it mean that my camera has 2031 pictures ? (I bought it "brand new" but we never know ..)

Thank you very much for your help.

Poiv, France.

It's possible, or it could also start there if you had used that card previously on another camera and didn't format it. Or at some point before you used it somebody else put a card inside the camera that had 2,029 photos on it.

DSCF "2" references slot #2, 030 is frame number

You can set the camera to file name continuously or reset

Assuming that it was set to name continuously DSCF2030 is frame #030 on card #2.

Pretty sure that's misinformation. The 2 doesn't reference slot 2. The 2 in that position means two thousand. DSCF2030 is image number two thousand thirty. As mentioned above, his camera probably started at DSCF2030 because the SD card was previously used in another camera that had taken 2,029 photos.

Setting the camera to continuous (vs renew) means that if you take 2,030 photos then reformat the card, the camera will name the next image 2,031. If you set it to renew it would start the next image at 0001 after reformatting. It has nothing to do with which slot it's going to.
