I prefer the godox system. For Fuji, it's all manual flash like the yongnuo, but they have a much more comprehensive flash system that all works together. Godox also recently announced they will be supporting Fuji TTL in the very near future. My favorite part about the Godox system are the Li-Ion batteries!

I had noticed some weird under-exposing of certain frames in a series of photos with the electronic shutter but nothing as drastic as this! What was your shutterspeed at for these photos?

I use the old F1.4 primes myself. No issue there, although the few times I remember using face detect the most were with the 90 F2. I just saw your comment about using it in low light. I missed that part earlier. I don't bother with face detection in low light. I don't really expect it to work good in those situations. I saw 2 videographers using face detect in low light on their cameras recently. I don't remember what they were using but it wasn't Fuji. About halfway through they switched it off and said face detect was frustrating them. I think it's just asking a lot of any camera. Easier to stick with single focus point, in my opinion.

I've had good luck with face detection on both my XT1 and XT2. Admittedly, I rarely use it, and only for certain occasions where there's only 1 person as a subject and they must be facing the camera. I've even used it photographing kids, with good success. If the subject turns too much to the side and the camera can't detect a face it reverts back to single focus point anyway. What lenses are you using face detect with? I'm wondering if mine works pretty good because I'm only using prime lenses and the system has more available light to work with, or maybe that doesn't make a difference. I've only used regular face detection, not eye detection. The XT2 seems better after the new firmware, but it worked good for me before the last firmware update anyway.

I think you should contact Fuji about that issue.

I had a similar issue but my XT2 would freeze in continuous low, instead of bracketing mode. Installed the new firmware and the issue completely went away. Hopefully you have the same luck with the firmware. If not, send it back to Fuji while it's under warranty.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I had a few issues with my XT2 also but it was nothing I couldn't work around. The firmware updates completely fixed it. From the image you posted, it definitely looks like it's back focusing I didn't think mirrorless cameras could do this either. Just out of curiosity, how big of a focus point are you using for your tests? I would send it back to Fuji ASAP if you want to use it at Disney next month. I haven't sent any of my cameras back for service yet but I've read about others who have received their cameras back with a week or so. Also include a letter explaining that you bought the camera for that trip and wish to use it, maybe they'll try to speed up your service. When I called Fuji service the rep said that if I overnighted the camera to them, they would overnight it back to me once it was fixed.

I completely understand that. I used to use the Canon rating system all the time in order to save time. If a client needs a specific image or a group of images immediately following a shoot (which happens a lot with commercial jobs), I use the star ratings to mark them so I can pull them up quickly when I get to my computer. Not everybody needs this feature but certain ex-dslr shooters who got used to using it in their workflow, like I did, will appreciate having it again. I really wish it worked with JPEG images also!

Update, the developer updated the plugin to include the ability to read Fuji's star ratings and apply them to images in lightroom. As I mentioned in another thread, it only works on RAW images, not JPEG.

UPDATE: The developer of the plugin I mentioned above has updated the plugin and it now includes the ability to read Fuji's ratings and apply them in lightroom. Are the cards both the same capacity and speed? I read about that issue but I thought most people had the issue when they used cards with a different capacity or speed. My camera was freezing in continuous low and the new firmware fixed it. It never froze in continuous high though.

Once you have the firmware loaded onto the SD card and it's inserted into the XT2, press and hold DISP on the back of the camera then turn the camera on. The firmware update dialog should run immediately. As MikEm13 mentioned, the card has to be formatted before you put the firmware on there.

Do you know how to use the exposure compensation? The black background is tricking your camera sensor into thinking the photo is too dark. The sensor sees all of that black behind the jewelry and tries to average it out to a medium gray. You need to use negative exposure compensation to turn the exposure back down. You also might have better luck with spot metering if the XT10 has it. If it's out of focus, you may be trying to put the lens too close to the jewelry. Each lens has a minimum focusing distance. Back the camera up just a little bit and zoom in closer if you have a zoom lens. Try using a tripod to help keep the camera still or prop your arm or the camera up on something like a bag to help stabilize the camera. You could also try macro extension tubes or a dedicated macro lens if you have the budget for it.

I love all of the new changes with the firmware update. The focus points moving based on orientation (although I wish the size would stay the same), the eye sensor + LCD image display is awesome, auto minimum shutterspeed, smaller focus point, copyright information- FINALLY! A lot of little things that add up to one awesome firmware update. They seem to have fixed some bugs as well. I had mentioned in another thread that my camera would crash anytime I used continuous low shooting mode, but that seems to have been fixed. I used that mode all day today and it didn't crash once (knocking on wood right now!!!).

Pretty sure that's misinformation. The 2 doesn't reference slot 2. The 2 in that position means two thousand. DSCF2030 is image number two thousand thirty. As mentioned above, his camera probably started at DSCF2030 because the SD card was previously used in another camera that had taken 2,029 photos. Setting the camera to continuous (vs renew) means that if you take 2,030 photos then reformat the card, the camera will name the next image 2,031. If you set it to renew it would start the next image at 0001 after reformatting. It has nothing to do with which slot it's going to.

Lightroom has film simulations, yes, but it doesn't apply the ones you used automatically. You have to remember which one you used and apply it yourself. This plugin takes the guessing out of it. When you run the plugin it reads the metadata and applies the film simulation you used when the photo was taken. For some people that may not matter, but for those who switch film simulations this is a huge help. In my opinion, it's something Adobe should have integrated a long time ago like they do with Canon and Nikon. In addition, the developer is working on adding the ability to have the plugin read and apply the star ratings. He mentioned on his website that his developer version has that feature so it's only a matter of time before he adds it to the version available for download.

Yeah it's really annoying. I used the rating system a lot when I shot with Canon but I've run into the same issue you have with Fuji. I really wish there was an easy fix for it but I couldn't find it. If that new plugin announced today fixed this issue I would certainly buy it, but it seems it's only for importing film simulations for RAW photos. That's still a big help, but I rarely shoot in RAW anyway. I'm more concerned with the ratings so I can easily and quickly pull up specific photos when I sit down to edit. Edit: the developer for that plugin mentioned on his site that it will support the rating system soon. Not sure if it'll work for JPEG images or not but it will work for ratings on RAW images.

I don't have a 430EX but I have used a 580exII and a 600EXRT on my Fuji XT1 back when I first started using Fuji. The Canon flashes can be used safely on Fuji cameras. They will not have TTL, it is manual flash only. I'm not familiar with how the 430EX works but you should be able to push the mode button to change it to manual mode. If you leave it in TTL mode I'm pretty sure it will just fire at full power. As for buying a dedicated flash, it completely depends on how much you use it and whether or not you're comfortable using manual flash. I only use manual flash for my Fuji cameras but I have over a decade of experience with manual flash. I can usually walk into a room and guess my exposure settings and flash levels before I get my cameras out.

True. I wasn't thinking about that part. I don't usually walk around going back and forth from Macro to regular shots. I use them for one specific purpose only, pictures of the rings at a wedding. After that I take them back off. For my purpose they work perfect.

I use the 90 F2 with macro tubes all the time, they work perfectly together.

Agreed, looks like that landing is going to hurt. Love the third shot. I own the 55-200 and I'm still amazed at how sharp it can be.
