Weather resistance modify

Hey guys I just have an idea in my head, I wonder if we could modify a normal lens to a weather resistance lens. I’m thinking about using some kind of super hydrophobic coating around the moving part as the barrel. For the focus ring use the heat shrink plastic to make a water tight cover around the crack between the ring and the lens’s body. If any body have experience about weather resistance modify already, please share the experience. I’m appreciate all the comments.

Wouldn't that heat shrink tubing mean that you would no longer be able to move the ring? How would you add the necessary o ring to seal the mount? How would you test it without risking it?

If you're comfortable disassembling the lens, you might explore internal sealing methods, such as applying a waterproof sealant to the lens elements.
