New x-t1 / Fuji fan in Texas!

Hi all - a big Texas howdy from a new Fuji fan :-) I am Ina slow migration away from all my canon feet and I'm really, really happy with the Fuji system so far. I have an x-t1, the 18-55 f:2.8 - F/4 "kit", and the 55-200 f/3.5-4.8. I mostly shoot portraits, events, and sports (yeah I know :-().

 

I'm honestly blown away by the image quality this camera and lenses produces. It easily rivals my canon 5d Mkii II and 7d II / 24/70 2.8 (v1) and 70-200 2.8.

 

I'm blown away by this 55-200 telephoto - the OIS and sharpness are just phenomenal for a "cheaper" lens - so glad I bought it - plan on shooting some portraits with it until I get the 56 1.2 :-)

 

One quick question - planning on getting an old x-e1 as a backup (I'm part time, fairly low volume). Any reasons why I shouldn't do this? Should I just suck it up and get an x-pro1 or x-e2 instead? I'm just drawn to the very cheap used price right now - lol :-)

Another Texas convert...congrats!  I switched from Nikon to Fuji this year.  I got the 18-55mm,  55-200mm, 10-24mm, and I really like the 35mm f2 to make my x-t10 into a "tourist" camera.  I live in the Texas Hill Country and loved photographing the wildflowers and great weather this spring.  Enjoy!

I just sold my 18-55 to a guy in a Facebook group who was local, that just moved over to the system.  Great lens, just never used it, and after 8 months on the shelf, figured I could help someone else realize the joy of shooting Fuji.  I love the 55-200 for shooting events and sports with the T1.  Great lens.

 

Welcome to the X Series.  They brought the joy I get with film back to digital for me.

Thanks :-) yeah I took the X-t1 out on a day trip recently with the 18-55 and 55-200 and was so impressed with what I got from it!

To me the main difference between E1 and E2 is the AF speed especially in low light situations. The E2 has more or less thw same AF as the T1. So depending on your shooting style you have to spend the additional money for a used E2 over an E1 or you buy an E1 and have a good dinner with your friend.

 

I personally bought recently a used E2, in fact it became a used E2s, to accompany my T1 and more or less replace my E1. But I will still use the E1 as second body with my Samyang 12mm f/2. As it is manual focus only the slow AF does not matter.

I just joined the ranks of Fuji shooters. I bought an XE-2 used and upgraded the firmware, in effect making it all-but an XE-2s. I'm really happy with it. You might think about it. . . .
