Flash for the XT-1

There was an earlier rumor (rumour for some) to the effect that Metz was about to produce a flash for the XT-1. And then all went quiet.

 

I'm looking for  such an animal and wonder where to find it. If not Metz, then who? If now soon, then when?

A real pro level flash for Fuji is still rather elusive, I do not think any of us could give you a concrete answer on that part.

 

Although there are viable alternative, if TTL is no needed. Yongnuo is rather nice on a X-T1 and works just as good as any manual flash and cost a fraction of the price of the SB800 or SB900 from Nikon.

 

Nissin i40 seems like a solid second flash if you need one. TTL seems to be working with the Fuji system, but it has some clunky dials and the joints can be a bit loose, but it does have the advantage of delivery as much light as much larger flash and cost moderately nice.

I think that you might have missed a few chapters of the saga, let me summarize it to you.

 

Metz filed for insolvency and went into receivership in  November 2015.

 

That’s why it all went quiet!

 

Not Fuji’s fault.

They were trying to get the TV company away from the Flash company and it looks like they did solve this problem in April 2015 by selling the two companies to two different buyers.

Now the flash division belongs to DAUM a German electronics company.

Which appears to say that the release is imminent.

Meh... Seeing is believing, until we really get an announcement for a pro level flash for Fuji, I wouldn't be holding my breath, Fuji and flashes is a sad enough story so far...

Well, Metz makes flashes and the new company which arose from the ashes of the old one needs new markets and customers, but like everything else rumors are often wrong.

 

I personally take these things wit a rock of salt.

 

I just gave the sequence of events since OP didn’t seem to know that it wasn’t so that things had gone “ silent” but the Metz company had been through a serious series of events.

I have three Nissin i40's (Nikon, Fuji, and Sony). I would look to the larger Nissin's without hesitation if I wanted a more powerful flash for Fuji.
