Contrary to common opinion... it can be done

Recommended Posts

I cover two D1 schools regularly and spent this entire MBB season using an XT1 and 56 for my baseline photography for wire services on deadline. It was a little trial by fire and leaving myself no other option because the only Nikon gear I've kept is one D3 and the big lens for the field sports. Once I figured out the quirks and got into a comfort zone, things actually worked very well.

And when you nail it with the XF56, the results are so pleasing. I am also quite fond of this gem.

Ssshh... just don't tell the people that you threw away 99 other shots :-)

Right light ... right setup ... right lens ... right timing.  Camera is fine for sports.  Not the same as my old Nikon D3s ... but at 1/2 the weight and 1/4 the price ... I'm pretty happy.  :)

Another shot, but this one not staged.  Indoor arena of my son taking a shot on net.  Lighting in this arena sucks, so fast glass and pushing the ISO is needed for still.  Video isn't a problem in the lighting as 1/30 or 1/60 shutter speed is easy ... but not 1/500 !
