  1. According to Wikipedia, this is: Hemaris diffinis, the snowberry clearwing, is a moth of the order Lepidoptera, family Sphingidae. This moth is sometimes called "hummingbird moth" or "flying lobster". This is the first time I have seen one of these out in the wild so to speak, at first I thought it was a large bumblebee.

  4. it is good that these do not shoot their "quills" like porcupines do, as close as you were to get this shot, it could have gotten gruesome.

You may have your camera's ISO output set to 'auto' which will limit the maximum ISO available to you ... http://fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x-t100/menu_shooting/shooting_memu1/index.html#iso You should be able to change it in the menus, at least that is what the manual says
