As a XT1 convert to XT2 I am finding a lot of new stuff in the menu system, one is compressed RAF(RAW). I use Coral Photoshop as my post processing programme and found all my compressed RAF files just came out as a half black and half white image on the screen. The fix = DO NOT USE COMPRESSED RAF setting. in looking for a solution I tried looking at some converters but was having problems which I think was related to the same issue. Any other comments about compressed .RAF files?

I have been looking around for a L bracket, just like the one I used on my XT1 which only cost $14 from China. sadly this Co do not have one for the XT2. Having had a close look at the XT1 bracket it is very easy to make it fit the XT2. Drill out the the center tripod hole to 13mm dia to half the depth of the bracket and fit the attachment screw to this center hole. Then file the metal to make Clarence for the memory card door to open. Approximately 1mm. Well that's the theory haven't got any free time at the mo. There are other options to fit the bracket instead of having to use a 13mm dia drill - drill out half the depth of thread and countersink the the hole then instead of using the nice chrome bolt a countersink bolt cut to the correct depth would do, hex socket best. Sorry photos later. But I thought I might set you checking to see if your XT1 bracket might fit the XT2.

WR will it help? I live in Thailand I had a lot of Nikon equipment D3 biggest lens 200 to 400mm. All my Nikon lens suffered from mold growth, the only help or comment I could get was take to the nearest service center. The big 200 to 400mm zoom had to be sent back to Japan to get fixed at quite a high cost needless to say. For some time I had been having problems with the size and weight of the Nikon kit plus the inability to discus the issue with someone from Nikon prompted me to look for something smaller, mirror-less. In the past I had great service from the Olympus OM film cameras they withstood the bangs of pro use. Alas when I held the Olympus kit it was too small for my hand and couldn't get a steady grip. AND then I held the EXPro1 wow, so natural a feel and maybe retro appearance/controls for an old like me. Then the XT1 came along, a marriage born in heaven Then the EXT2 now. I have used for many years a large Alite humidity controlled cabinet it didn't save the Nikon kit I am hoping the Fuji kit is going to be better. TIME WILL TELL. All my lens have WR. Maybe I am misguided but if something does go wrong I will get more interaction with Fuji.

The metal grip is a must, my XT1 feels so secure with it in place - online direct from China $14 it has the added advantage of having a further 90 degree addition of metal which does not impair memory access. The big plus is the camera is held onto the tripod using the Swiss ARCA cut outs in BOTH planes. Twisting a normal ball head tripod 90degrees ie for portrait work is not good therefore this makes the cheaper Chines offering much more useful. The sad news I have is the XT1 metal is still available but the XT2 is not available yet from a couple of regular vendors. I would include a photo but I and 6 million others cant use our web cams. Thanks Microsoft!!! Sure if nobody does I will inform you when the XT2 metal is available(After I have placed my order .... he he) .

Once you had a XT1 its a no boner XT2 is a natural progression.

Trying to figure out XT2 myriad of AF Modes
pez replied to absolutic's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
A great set of pictures what I would do is print them out A3 then laminate them so that they can be handled. -
Hi. using the XT2 with my 55 140mm zoom yesterday the the image in the viewfinder started to judder as if the auto focus was in slow mo. Could not stop it no photos could be taken. Switched off then on no further problem. Any ideas?? My XPr01 and XT1 never miss a beat.

New Fujifilm XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR Dilemma
pez replied to Fred4hp's topic in Fuji X Lenses
Hi Folks. I had a Nikon D3 also the massive in size and price 200 to 400mm zoom. Now I have the Fuji 100 to 400mm zoom, there is no doubt for me the Fuji is giving the best in focus every time shots. The Fuji has only been used hand held!!!(XT1) Because I am old and a bit unsteady I only loose very few shots to camera shake. So far I have only used it on people performing and normal action, the next action will be a local cut and thrust football match plus the XT2. Yesterday I looked back at my 55 to 200mm Fuji Zoom photos taken with the pre focus firmware updates, it is hardly surprising I was disappointed in the focus. A few months ago I purchased the 50 to 140mm zoom, the results were breathtaking, the colour, the sharpness went to create almost 3D images, again all hand held use. My first choice of lens if the subject/distance allow. Dilemma no problem its not just for sport/nature and it works well with the XT1. There is still a lot of very useful life in the XT1 in producing class leading photos. -
To-day 10 Sept 2016 After a long wait I got my hands on it. I took a lens or 2 spare batteries and 2 memory cards. First switch on, my finger intuitively went to the new JOY stick to set the date. I couldn't help notice how much clearer the screen was compared to the XT1. Bliss. So much talk has been around I had even printed the manual out 4 sheets/page and double sided made it all quite manageable Total manual size 380+ sheets. I hate manual but this camera is so much more sophisticated the manual will be needed. However the contribution by more experienced users as published in this Forum are always welcome. Thanks please keep sending the quick guides. My thanks to the Canadian friend for placing a link to the manual in other languages in reply to my question. Was it a subtly message to read the manual more carefully? Or just old helpful. However I am a Brit abroad been in Thailand 13years. Hell I am getting old!!!!!!!!!!

Fujifilm X-T2 Owners Manual Download Available
pez replied to Patrick FR's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
I have had a quick look through the XT2 Manual...... BUT no luck. How can I check the number of photos/shutter operations made by the XT2 and XT1? The ability to do this is very useful in the adverts it says "Little Used" really?? Also that new camera you have ordered has had a visit to open-day/exhibition or a returned item - may be in pristine condition but used? I know that most big vendors will always supply new unused items but living in Asia as I do ethics can be thin on the ground. Its the 9th September I was the ist to place a order for a XT2 body but when will I get it????[last ] Getting a straight answer is often difficult. I have been a XPro1 and XT1 user for a long time. The XT1 has grown-up so much since it was first launched and is now very competent. I am not expecting a huge change in the type of usage I make but having a faster processor and more flexible auto focus can only reduce the "fails". The extra pixels ok but I print A3 with ASA of circa 1600 which get cropped and find very little noise/grain, using the editing tool to d-noise - perfect. In the past I was able to check the photo taken on my old Nikon cameras. -
A good start: my first camera was a Kodak Browne as a member of the baby boom in 1947 hardly surprising. My first SLR was a Russian tank errrrr Zenit f2 50mm lens, all black does anybody remember Anschrome 400asa colour slide 35mm? Circa mid to late 60's. Part time press, wedding and my favorite industrial work kept me busy. Hardware: Mamiya C330 twin lens 120/220, 500C Blad. Olympus OM1 best lens 28mm. Big gap Nikon 70s - good next Nikon 200 no good. D3 great but got to be too big. The 200-400mm zoom was a monster. Loads of other Nikon glass 12-24 S was the best or 105macro. I needed something smaller some time ago, I thought a Olympus would be good but then I picked up a X Pro1 instant luv. But then I bought the XT1 this was it, it's best friend is a 16-55mm f2.8 what a great zoom, sold the old glass and saving for the 50-140mm. The 55-200 is ok but room for improvement. The XPro1 has gone just too slow for my liking. So what is my photographic subject choice at the moment all on hold - it has to happen quickly the camera must be an extention of my arm. People stuff, I do slow down for macro ditched flash now into LED ring and panel lights. I don't think I have ever taken a decent landscape photo. I enjoy interacting with models all action but no still life. In the days of b&w I liked darkroom effects now it's so much more civilised a fast PC 30" monitor and a range of editing software. For so many years we had shutter speed and aperture to work with but now we have another dimension asa (sensitivity) life is good. Pet dislike talk of video on a stills camera. Get a GoPro if you want video. I have to admit the smart phone camera is quite usefull!!!!!

The Ring Light is a Viltrox Macro Cool Light JY675 it was supplied from China for $45 new. Cool Gadgets USA site or similar may well stock it. It came with a number of filter thread ring adaptors but non fitted - no matter cos the largest ring slid smoothly over the focusing ring of the 60mm Macro lens. Any tape or wedge would have done to fix the ring in place. The battery/control unit sits in the flash shoe. It has a,b and a+b selection with a dimmer control. Easy to use, thanks to digital camera flexibility exposure is easy if you don't have a nice Sekonic flash/light meter. I quite like to use it indoor without any other light ie the cat, background is uniportant. However, it works quite well outdoors as a fill in for portrate pics. About other pics I will have a look, maybe I need to please Maurice - I havent noticed any pictures of his here - maybe some where else? I have down loaded the V4.00 firmwear looking forward to giving it a try on Tuesday n.b. I used the Official Fujifilm website.

Thank you milandro for the suportive comments. I did write the picture is a low res version and as such lost a lot of post processing. I was surprized nobody commented on the light in the eyes, I left them there deliberatly. My purpose was not to try and win a photo contest. I did consider the norms of editing but decided NOT to follow them - my choice. I think so often we loose sight of the fact that photography is an art form - not that my cat is an eg of great art - just nice - I think. The reference to Atari did amuse me and certainly gave the impression of an older contributer who can't or didn't wont to read or accept that some people wont to just make pictures. However, the point of posting the picture was to show other uses of the Macro lens other than the classic close-up pictures published - which are excelent. It is a shame that so often people make comments that conribute nothing to forums in general.

I love this lens and frequently use it with a LED ring light a cheaper one that does not flash. OK the lens cover is naff. but I leave it off most of the time. Low res pic attached. The Ring LED was used.

I have a Samyang 8mm f2.8 and a Fuji 16mm. The Samyang is so cheap you have to try it.

Extra to my last contrribution with my Xpro/Xt1 and Catus V6 I use Nikon SB600 and SB800 flash units plus my Fujifilm EF42 - but but don't forget it is all in manual mode. For exposure I use Sekonic Flashmate L-308S. However, why not just start with a guess multi braketed exposure and you very quickly not need a flash meter.

I have Cactus, works with Xpro1 and Xt1 very flexible. Using radio signals as triggers is so much more reliable. I used to use the Nikon system it was infra red based it was so unrelable. I understand Fujifilm cameras use Canon connector patern in the flash shoe.

The good thing about forum is it brings people with very diverse experiance and opinions. I am the complete oposit to the original poster. Russion SLR Zenit, Canon QL, Olympus OM1 and OM2, Nikormar, Minolta Autocord first of the 120 cameras, Mamiya C330 Press Super 23 and Hassleblad C500. Then came a gap until the first digital Olympus 8080 was a complete failure the auto focus was ug. Then came the Nikon 7S it was a good camera but then upgraded to a 200 - very poor camera but then came the D3 great. But now I have Fujifilm X-Pro1 and XT1 wow I do not miss any of the previously hardware. Digital has come so far with some way to go. Has Sony just set the bar even higher? Future? I think I will see what the XT2 will offer XT10 not for me too slow when shooting RAW. Sell the X-Pro1 cos anything over 60mm lens is a compramise. A fav bit of kit I have is very inexpensive LED ring light(not flash), great for portrates, my cats and more. couple it with my 60mm lens I enjoy. Now its so nice to be able to carry a range of lenses plus bodies all in one bag, before with the Nikon D3 plus lenses I needed to go out in my 1 Ton truck and for what? smoother images greater range of tones but now the difference is being eroded. With the advantage of greater portability. My other great interest is editing my images it started in the dark room using a stopwatch hands and bits of card, the smell of fixer ugh but now its so civalised and so flexible. Coral Paint Shop Pro, I hate Lightroom. Now we are spoilt for choice there is such a great range of editing software out there, RAW converters Optical correctors as well. It goes without saying there is no substitute for first class images out of the camera. To refer back to the original post does my past experiance help to-day yes, but only as the ability to capture good images. Understand about depth of field and other tecchnical aspects. To-day we see more images caputred on mobile phones!!!!!!!

Back in 1968 I was loaned a Minolta 50mm f1.2 lens and body, it had been purchased in the far east by a ships chief engineer. Big glass! but the results were stunning, the image quality was not just sharp but smooth. But the one big downfall that is applicable to-day is the lack of depth of field. I know some people like wide aperture lens so that when its closed down a touch you get edge to edge sharpness. But to-days lens are very good edge to edge so there is no need to pay the extra and carry the extra weight. Before digital cameras film sensativeity was low so there was a need for wide aperture lens but now?
