  1. That's totally normal. The X-S10 only charges when it's not turned on.
  2. I believe this software lets you back up and restore the camera settings...so it's "technically" supported.
  3. I hope this isn't the reason Fujifilm released it in the fall...I wonder what owners in the Southern Hemisphere are experiencing now.
  4. The other lens I was using before was my ancient Maxxum 70-210 f4...kind of hard to compare handling because it works only in manual mode on the X-S10. But this new one focuses like lightning compared to how the Maxxum lens worked on the Maxxum, or even on the newish Sony A58 I was using it on previously. The 70-300 is pretty stiff when turning the zoom ring though. It has a zoom lock so I know they were worried about "lens creep" (not to be confused with what the local wildlife is probably calling me lol). Sample photos to follow (real-world sample photos, not crazy stuff like above. I was just blown away by the IBIS).
  5. Some handheld indoor shots at 300mm...first one at 1/5 second ISO 800, shot of my kit lens at ISO 1600 and (wait for it) 1/2 second exposure! X-S10 IBIS FTW!
  6. Taking pictures or shooting 8x slow motion? Regardless, it obviously shouldn't do that. Go-to solution for any electronic problem: turn it off and take out the battery for 30 seconds and try again.
  7. So the menu setting that lets you use one is in error? Wouldn't be the first time that users knew more than tech support.
  8. How could someone measure and record this kind of data at home?
  9. Great minds think alike! 😸 I wanted to use a tablet as a "field monitor" for ease in watching wildlife through the lens in a photo blind I made, so I got a cheap video capture card and a cable from Amazon for $22, and it not only works for that, but now I can just plug my camera into my laptop as a proper webcam and even use Zoom with SplitCam (which is free). I used this setup with my regular webcam today to show my grandson some cool physics experiments. If anyone's interested: Cable and Capture Card.
  10. This has been a very interesting thread. I never heard of Dual ISO and almost thought it was an in-joke (like "blinker fluid" for cars). To return the favor, I found this awesome video that explains the details, but you will need at least 2 or 3 cups of coffee to keep up:
  11. I have the iconic 70-210 f4 "beercan" telephoto (I saw a lens today by either Sigma or Tokina with the same specs and wondered if it's a copy) and a 500 Tamron f8 mirror lens, both used with a Maxxum and then a Sony S58 (I also have a Tokina 11-16 for the Sony, this works even better on the Fujifilm because I don't really have to focus it). I generally keep the aperture setting on the adapters somewhere in the middle unless I really need it wide open.
  12. Yep. I use focus peaking on reverse adapters and two Minolta-era long lenses with mine, works great!
  13. I think if I needed it that much I'd just get an HDMI to USB adapter and bypass the webcam software altogether.
  14. Nice find, worked for me too! I've been trying Splitcam but it's just not working with Fujifilm's software implementation.
  15. I did find one, although it comes from China so you're probably best off using the description to find something similar closer to you. https://www.newegg.com/global-bargains-a13061700ux0957/p/0Y1-00F0-03NU8?Item=9SIA4SR1WV0898&Description=2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter&cm_re=2.5mm_to 3.5mm adapter-_-9SIA4SR1WV0898-_-Product Different supplier: https://www.mycablemart.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=5790
  16. Your comment intrigued me enough that I did some research. Based on the information at http://www.doc-diy.net/photo/remote_pinout/ most Fujifilm cameras use the same "remote protocol" as most Canons (and some Olympus and Pentax). So I wired up a 3.5mm plug the same way and it worked! So all you should need is a cheapish ($10 to $12 on Amazon, like this https://www.amazon.com/Kiwifotos-RS-80N3-Control-Shutter-Connection/dp/B071XPW655/) Canon remote and the plug adapter. Someone on another thread somewhere said "if you look for Canon Rebel you'll be good".
  17. Red-tailed hawk, X-S10 with Minolta 70-210 "beercan" F2.8, manual focus
  18. Fujifilm X-S10 with 16-80 F4 set at f22
  19. Fujifilm X-S10 with manual focus Tamron 500mm F8 mirror lens on tripod
  20. Just happened the other day to my X-S10 with a stock Fuji lens. Ruined what could have been a great timelapse of a flower opening.
  21. Thanks! I had deleted the images the first way but they kept coming back. I must admit to being old enough that I didn't see or recognize the teeny tiny trashcans though.
  22. Just responding here because I kind of went the opposite way. Three years ago, I decided to invest in a Samsung flagship-level phone, primarily for the newer camera technology, so I could be reasonably happy with the quality of the camera I would always have with me. It's worked out great in general and saved a lot of trouble and weight when traveling, although as someone alluded to above, I would have been disappointed if I went to a zoo. But this year I realized that sometimes I just want to Take Pictures, and that could go almost anywhere, so I got me an X-S10 and all sorts of modern accessories so now I can hook it to my microscope, telescope, or micro focusing rail as well as get pro-quality pictures and video with great lenses. And I'm having a great time!
