  1. Thanks Mike, I have downloaded the manual and it's easy to follow. I looked up the shooting preferences and I am pleased to see that you guys are giving me good information. Not that I ever doubted you all. Many thanks once again.
  2. Thanks Johant, no need to apologise. Yesterday I was tired after another long intensive week at work, so my brain was addled. It's useful to note about how the in-camera 'filters' affect the RAW settings; I tend not to use such things and I believe I saw on a tutorial that you can turn off unwanted menu items, so I'd be looking to rationalise my menu and probably putting the most useful functions for me on a favourites page. It's less than two weeks now before I pick up my camera and I'll be trying it out on my trip to Portugal. I can't wait!
  3. Excellent; I'm a happy bunny now! What I normally do when I'm on holiday is download the shots to my tablet every day as a back up, just in case either is lost or malfunctions. I then edit some of the shots on my tablet and upload them to social media. I've now downloaded Adobe Lightroom onto my tablet; it's a cutdown version of course, but it does give me more controls than I'm used to.
  4. Hang on, I'm confused now; perhaps I'm being a bit dim today. Are you saying that on the RAW+JPG setting it will shoot a RAW and a full sized JPEG image at the same time?
  5. Hmmm, I had not realised that. Oh well, you can't have it all. I guess a workaround for non-action shots would be to shoot one shot in RAW and the next in JPG. But how easy is it to switch between the two? Could I set up a function button to do it? No, I've not shot in RAW before (unless you count 35mm film LOL), that's one of the attractions of buying X-T20. My current camera is a bridge and only shoots JPG.
  6. Thanks Johant, Are you saying that I need to make sure that the JPG file is stored. I don't have my camera yet, so I can't try the controls.
  7. Wow, that's excellent. I am so glad, because I like travel photography and I would want to post a few shots on social media whilst I'm away and then edit the RAW images in Lightroom upon my return. Many thanks.
  8. On some cameras, there is an option to take your shot in RAW as well as JPEG. One tutorial I watched for the T-T20, implied that you can only shoot in RAW or JPEG and not both at the same time. Is this correct?
  9. What happens on 7 September; is there an annual products launch?
  10. Dear Quincy, Thank you for your advice; that all makes total sense to me. Your point about the lens hood is good too. The more I think about it, the less keen I am on the idea of step adaptors.
  11. I think the concern I have with the filters I have is that some of them were quite cheap no I'm wondering if their transmission values will be poor. I may well store them away to avoid temptation!
  12. Hi Tikcus, That's good to know. What brand/model of filter are you using? How often do you find yourself cleaning your filters?
  13. Somehow I missed your comment on polarisers. I do already have a 58mm CPL; so, for the time being, I'll not buy any more filters. But I have been thinking about what you wrote and I think I'll wait until I get my camera and start working with it. I'm not actually new to photography, but I've been using a bridge camera for quite some time and I'm out of touch and out of practice with SLRs and the like.
  14. Hi Quincy, I must apologise; my comment was rather clumsy. I was trying to spark some debate. So, I'm really sorry if I offended or upset you. Best regards Kate
  15. Thank you for that concise reply. It's definitely food for thought, so I think I will wait until I start using my camera; because I'm not sure if I will be shooting in the way that needs a filter. I totally agree about post production effects. Although having said that I have only used photoshop to crop and remove red eye. But I'm going to get a copy of of Lightroom and try to learn that. However, what about circular polarising filters? I have one of these and have used it for limiting reflections from glass and water. What's your view on those. Also do others here agree with Quincy?
  16. Thanks Android, but I have already bought one of these. Also, I don't live in America so you might find yourself out of pocket posting it to me in Qatar. May I suggest putting it on eBay. That's where I bought mine.
  17. Thanks Quincy, the answer to my question is here and it's 77mm or is it. I have been trying to determine the best filter size to use and use stepdown rings, so that I don't have to have a plethora of filters. I already have an XF 18-55mm zoom and a 27mm pancake. For the pancake, I'll probably just get some 39mm filters as I bought it to be discrete, but for the other lenses I'll probably just have one set. I'm going to sick with native lenses for now. So, is my logic sound or flawed? I don't mind if someone disagrees, I'd rather start off on the right foot and not waste lots of money.
  18. Hi Dave, How come you are moving from the X-T20 to the X-T2 so quickly?
  19. Hi Dave, I'm still over two weeks from picking mine up. But that gives me time to look out for accessories. What have you bought for yours?
  20. Thanks for the link. I seldom use Amazon, but I see that there are a lot of secondhand filters on there. I don't think I'll be buying new ones! Okay, I'm going to check this out. For me, the i40 looks the right scale for the camera and versatile too, so worth considering. Thanks for your help.
  21. Ah, I was looking at these earlier. Are you using the slim 58mm; and if so does it have a male and female thread so that you can screw other filters directly into it. I find that easier than the juggling act of swapping filters. I shall buy a couple of extra Fuji batteries from Wex. They are in my hometown and cheapest I've seen. I won't risk buying others as I've been fooled once before. How do you find the Nissin flash, is it good? Also, am I correct in my understanding that the hot shoe is smaller than standard? I have a Speedlite for Canon, so I was assuming that it would not fit.
  22. Interesting, yes on larger lenses I would use a protective filter just in case I dropped the camera. I hasten to add that I have never dropped one! But on the 27mm lens, it's less likely that the glass would strike an object anyway so the risk is low. I like your logic.
  23. I was going to ask about this. I noticed that the screen doesn't swivel back on itself like my Canon. So is screen scratching an issue on these cameras?
