Auto ISO

Hi

I searched the forum and didn't find any help re Auto ISO .

Coming from Nikon background - I find it very disappointing - that Auto ISO behaves a very strange way to me.

 

Ok - in my Nikon days - it was simple as that: set Iso to Auto - specify low/max iso and shutter speed and you're done. Thats it. Nothing more. Than - you would be shown - what Iso is chosen by auto .

Its continually annoys me - showing me my max iso chosen in auto setting - but why?!

I need to know before I shoot - what iso i range I'm in/what to expect.

I know I would see this info after I half press the shutter button - but its stupid - after I half press - its often too late for me to think - its shooting time!

 

More: if I set time dial to "T" - it will somehow override AutoIso - but it should change iso - according to my settings for auto - and it should change iso (id I should be able to see it) but it doesn't.

 

Id say - its stupid algorithm , and I shoot in manual instead.

 

and I say - it should work - with different lenses - given their length, but I guess its not?

 

Can anyone - try to explain - how to use it? , ar share opinions - if you ever use Auto?

As for stupidity I’d say it is a choice and like many choices some will like them and some won’t. You don’t. Most probably the majority does or otherwise it won’t be like this.

 

No, I don’t use it, I like to think that I am using film and behave as I have always done for years and years.

 

Chose the ISO for the situation ( and hope for certain results) and then go on until I no longer find it convenient.
