Display Brightness AUTO in EVF but not on LCD

I noticed the other day the in the EVF that the brightness can be set to AUTO which is great (not sure if this is new after the firmware update), but it does not seem to be possible in the LCD or am I missing something?

It's a bit odd: While the EVF has an "auto" mode the LCD can be adjusted only manually, in increments. No auto.

Before getting the camera I just assumed the the display screen automatically adjusted for ambient light. I was unpleasantly surprised to find that isn't the case; at default brightness I find the display nearly unviewable when used outside in full sun.

I have to adjust it all the time. When I'm indoors I usually have -2 or -3 and outdoors +2 or +3 or super sunny day at +4.
