Hunting for Focus

Hoping someone can offer advice or solution Thank You.

I have a XF 35mm F1.4R lens with a Fuji XT1 Camera.

This lens continues to hunt for focus, close up far away and everything in between.

I have set to Single AF.

The lens continues to whirr in and our even whilst switched on and sitting on the bench searching.

I'm new to photography, so simple explanations please.

I wondered if a factory rest would help?

My other lens does not do this, so I am fairly confident that the Camera is not at fault.

it sounds like pre=auto focus is switched on in camera (but then all your Fuji lenses would do this)
​if you switch that off your battery will last longer as well

Make sure firmware on camera and lens is up to date

Bare in mind that the 35. 1.4 on an X-T1 does hunt allot without pre focus, I had the lens and sold it when I had my X-T1 as I found it very slow to focus.

 

Year down the line I bought an X-Pro2 and decided with the latest firmware to give the 35 1.4 over the 2.0 a go and what an improvement wont be sending it back.
