I have the front control ring set to default, which means it controls the aperture when I use aperture priority, which is almost all the time.  However, the setting almost always shifts after taking some photographs and then placing the camera to my side (I am using a strap),

Is there a way that the aperture setting can be made more stable?

Yeah, taping it might be nice.  :P

I wonder if there is any way to disable the control ring in the menus?  That way, I can control the aperture with the rear command dial, which is less apt to move on its own.

The only menu option I could find is to change the rotation direction -- useless!

You can set it to change other things than the aperture and then use the rear dial for aperture.

Thanks for responding.  I know that, but whatever I set it to (e.g. ISO, white balance) will then probably shift, just as the aperture does.  It would be great if there were a menu setting to disable the control ring altogether!
