X-T2 Preview not accurate

I actually have this problem too. I noticed when I shot my X-T2 outside, the EVF and the Liveview were giving me different exposures. EVF was at 0 brightness and Liveview was at AUTO. I didn't know which version to trust.

jwctp, i am not sure if you're talking of the same problem. i mean that the image changes when you actually take the picture.

 

i also updated to the new firmware and it didn't solve the problem. So i will send in my X-T2 now

Same thing happens in my XT2. In my opinion the cause is the color space selected in preferences. If i chose sRGB, then the preview pic in the EVF and the SOC jpeg are the same. But if I select AdobeRGB, the SOC jpg has less contrast and saturation. I think that the EVF works in sRGB and the camera engine change some colors when converts to Adobe.

I have observed the same since the first day. The image I see through my viewfinder is much more contrasty than the picture I take and see on screen. In some circumstances it even looks grungy. This was not happening at all with the X-T1.

Then, I get a normal RAW file: Dull and with very low contrast. In fact, the RAW file behaves much differently than the one in the X-T1: I have to add much more contrast in Lightroom than before. I used to add +10/+15 and now I easily have to go up to +30/+40.

Since I saw these differences in the RAW file, I didn't complain with what I saw in the EVF. But clearly, I preferred the more accurate preview in the X-T1.

I've tried a couple of new X-t2 cameras and have found the LCD screen display to be very yellow when reviewing photos. I don't know how photographers will be able to accurately set things like white balance with the yellow tinge. The pics also look a bit flat. My X-t1, on the other hand, gives a perfectly accurate and neutral display, showing good exposure and contrast. This has put me off buying the X-t2.

yes, pete i just saw the post. It solved the problem. Though i will report this to fuji as i think of this as a bug. They should fix it so you can see an accurate preview when you shoot in adobe rgb.

It was fine on the X-T1

Why would you shoot in aRGB? Most workflow, especially web and home printing is sRGB.

I've had this exact same issue but also with White balance. It looks great in the EVF and then it gets a whole lot greener on the back display. I had this issue with my Nikon D4 and D800 which was later fixed in a firmware update. I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue. Everything is factory defaults, I haven't changed any of the display brightness etc...

A great example of the internet forums being really helpful!

 

We all get reminded now and then how complex our little cameras (computers) really are. The X-T2 throws curves....

 

Now it's a shame that far too many people will forever have in their minds that the "X-T2 not having an accurate preview..."

 

Maybe the forum hosts can change the title of this thread to "X-T2 Preview Mystery Solved"...?

 

 

Now I'm going to check my "User Settings" and see what I have set...LOL
