X-Pro2 FW2.00 AF-C / L & AE Test (Release Priority)

Recommended Posts

Yes I know many of you hate cat pics, but eff it... she's a metering nightmare and she moves & IIRC Fuji cited the improved AF algorithm helped with fur and fine texture  :)

And just to make it REALLY challenging....

XF60 @ F2.4 :D :D set to single focus point mode

You can see bigger versions if you like :) :) :)

Shot#1 in focus.

Shots 2, 3 ,4 are NOT in focus. 5 - 8 in focus

All shots in focus

All shots in focus (shallow DOF excepted for closing ups)

All shots in focus (shallow DOF excepted for closing ups) - metering gets 'confused' (sic) when black cat fills the frame, and it's a blue cloudless sky out there today!

Summary:

All in all I'm happy with that... (YMMV) 3 missed shots out of 25, using the 60 and F2.4 and AE worked pretty well to cover the DR of the scene

Thanks Fuji :)

Nice cat and good to know the autofocus works for this most important use case. A good reason to use the Sunny F16 rule ;)

A man's gotta work with the tools at hand, my kid was at school !!

The sunny 16 rule would've given the test a bit of skew.. ergo the slowest lens, with a shallow DOF

The be fair I think it's the AF-C AE that's the star here, remember it couldn't do that before
