Electronic shutter can cause image defects like rolling shutter and banding. It's best to use mechanical shutter as a general default, and use electronic shutter when mechanical shutter isn't an option, like where using shutter speeds faster than what the mechanical shutter allows, when needing to be silent, or when doing time lapse photography to save the mechanical shutter (if appropriate).

How do I turn off the electronic shutter in the menu - the option is grayed out and I cannot select the mechanical option

If you set the shutter to 10”, (ten seconds) and try to capture an image, what happens?

p.s. Welcome to the forum.

p.p.s. If you have the shutter speed set too high, over 1/4000, only the electronic shutter will be available, — faster than 1/4000 is too fast for the mechanical shutter.

    • Normally, lithium batteries need some charge to keep them healthy. Try to never let one of these drop to zero charge level, that can cause it to short circuit or be permanently disabled. Have you not contacted or heard back from Amazon yet? I think your troubles will disappear once you get in touch with them.
    • An update on this , I got an email my from regional fujifilm support saying that it should be zero, so now I’m not sure what to think.. I sent them email again asking them if this qc claim can be true, but no response yet. A lot of posts on internet say that their cameras came with some photos taken due to qc, and also ChatGPT tells me fujifilm support is wrong … I wonder if I should contact fujifilm global support.   A couple more questions that trouble me: Camera came with battery at around 75% is this normal? Shouldn’t it be 0? Also I hear a constant low humming /fan like noise from camera. It stops when I enter photo viewing mode. Thanks
    • I forgot how to remove the battery door so I can attach the grip.  I downloaded the manual for camera and grip and I can’t find the directions.  I don’t want to break it.

      Ho! ... Ho! ... Ho!
    • Yes will contact them, my concern is they might sold me a used camera as new ( don’t know how feasible that is), considering the fact that it also has 163 shutter count as a new camera.
