Probably this is the right thread because I am looking for buying a cheaper portrait lens (say 85mm) with great image quality and big aperture, but not the expensive ones from fuji. I am ready to buy some adapters too to adapt lens from other OEMs. So need some quick suggestion please. I have seen Samyang 1.4 & Opteka 1.8 85mm lens in amazon.uk... anyone have any experience with those???

I have a M42 Super Takumar 105 mm F2.8 with a focal reducer, it is tighter than a 85mm but I rather like it. Do be careful, it can be soft wide open, but I just love the bokeh of it so there is a choice to make about it when you are taking your shot.

The size and weight of the lens make a big difference in how handy it is to use. Some lenses are easier to focus than others.

The Nikon 105mm f2.5 is great, easy to focus and balances well. In fact, it focuses pretty accurately on the EVF without magnification.

I love my 85mm f1.4 lens, but it does not balance well on the camera, so it is a pain to use if not on a tripod.

Which camera you are using might make a difference. Battery grip or other grip (depending on which camera you have) can also make a difference.
