I have a Nissin i40 that I've used for over one year on my X-pro 1 in manual mostly and TTL mode as well.  Now the flash still works in manual mode but fails to fire in TTL mode.  Does anyone have any experience of knowledge of this problem?  Are there any suggestions on how to fix this without sending the unit out for service.

I have found my iNissin to be quite unpredictable in TTL on my X-T1.  So much that I'd consider it crap compared to my past Nikon body/flash combo history.  But until Fuji releases its own (hopefully this spring), I have had to make due.

What I have found helped (as sometimes mine would not fire in TTL when mounted on the camera) is I mount the iNissin on my camera when both the flash and camera are turned off.  I then turn on the iNissin, then turn on the X-T1.  I have found doing that (versus attaching the iNissin when the camera is already on) has helped increase the chances the iNissin will work.

OK, thanks, Adam I'll do that henceforth and see what happens.  I usually shoot using manual mode on the Nissin. I have guide numbers in my head to do some quick calculating with the flash zoom setting, distance of the flash to the subject, and aperture.  But there are occasions when life is simpler using TTL.
