Hi I have an x100t. If I set aperture, speed and iso to manual. I can see in the viewfinder if the exposure is correct or under/over. If I set the aperture or speed to auto I no longer have a reference to the exposure in the viewfinder. With my Cannon I get a flashing of the f-stop or speed if under exposed. What am I missing. Cheers John.

In semiautomatic modes exposure indicator shows exposure compensation value.

It works exactly the same in Canon cameras. Flashing f-stop or time means that camera cannot get correct exposure because one of these parameters exceeds maximum or minimum value.

For example: if you try to take a picture in a sunny day with iso set to 1600, f/1.4 and Tv mode, you get flashing speed indicator because correct exposure requires faster shutter speed than 1/8000 sec.
