Auto setting for ISO - possible problem

Hi, I took my NEW  Fuji X -T50 to take some rugby pictures for my local club.

 

I set the camera onto shutter priority and selected Auto1 ISO which had a min setting of  200 and a max of 12,800.  I t was a very bright and sunny day and I chose a shutter speed of 1000th sec

I was so busy following the action that I failed to notice that it was choosing the max setting of 12,800 - so all my pictures came out very grainy and most over exposed.

Now admittedly I haven't read through all of the user guide yet, but the Auto setting is supposed to chose the ISO for you, depending on the lighting conditions. 

A further test at home show that the ISO setting did not change whatever the shutter speed, so what I have done wrong - many kind thanks

In the bottom right of the rear LCD monitor what does it say to the left of the 12800?

Hi, thanks for reply, currently it just shows the battery reading.

 

I think I may know what happened. Before the matched started I took a picture of the team and the camera selected ISO 500, at a shutter speed of 1000th on Auto1.

 

The next picture, of a jet flying over, which I took to check the autofocus, had the ISO of 12,800, as did all the subsequent pictures.

 

I think I may have gone back into the menu just to check the MAX ISO setting but forgot that I had to go into Auto1 first before choosing the MAX setting. If the match is delayed, the light can diminish pretty quickly.

 

I've tested the camera this morning and it's fine on Auto1, with it changing the ISO setting, rather than the aperture to changing shutter speeds 

 

Having used my trusty Nikon D5600 for years, I simply got into a muddle on the new menu, and was careless.

 

I'm am going to read the user guide and give the camera a thorough shake down over the coming weeks.

Glad you figured it out.  Easy to change a setting and forget to change it back, especially when in middle of shooting.
