I want to ask the Fuji community if anyone has a good process of cleaning the outer barrel of a lens?

I recently had my 10-24mm repaired by Fuji service, and not only did they fix it, it came back looking brand new.  All the rubber and metal was cleaned to perfection.

I have a few other lenses that can use a good cleaning, however, I not sure what to use and I don’t want to dry out the rubber rings using the wrong cleaning products.

Any input and help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Try to avoid alcohol cleansers, as well as cleansers such as vinegar & water combinations. These are fine for household cleaning, but are very hard on rubber type seals.

The best results I have had come from using Eclipse fluid on a Pec pad (sorry for the commercialism, there are equivalents!) for the lens glass. And then use a soft -- not medium or hard -- toothbrush swished in slightly dish-soapy water to get bad stuff of the barrel, then wipe the barrel off with a damp clean soft towel. Try to avoid the seals as best you can.
